Senior Statistician II

Role: Barcelona (onsite) – 3 days at the office / 2 days working from home

The Senior Statistician II will join the CVRM (Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolism) team. This role requires sufficient experience working as a statistician in the pharmaceutical industry to operate independently on activities relating to study design, delivery and interpretation, regulatory submissions and commercialisation. The individual will be able to perform and communicate results of complex statistical analyses, guide less experienced colleagues, develop creative statistical approaches, and apply them effectively in their work. This is a strong individual contributor role requiring excellent cross-functional collaboration.
 

Typical Accountabilities

The Senior Statistician II will typically work directly within a project. The accountabilities for supporting projects directly are:

  • Provide statistical expertise for complex design and interpretation for clinical programmes, high-level internal governance committees, regulatory submissions and commercialisation.

  • Analyse internal and external information, perform modelling and simulation to inform design decisions and the development of decision criteria.

  • Develop Statistical Analysis Plans for complex studies and project deliveries.

  • Act as a coach and mentor for less experienced statisticians in the production of analyses, supporting graphics, analysis tables for study reports and publications.

  • Analyse, interpret, summarise and communicate results from complex studies.

  • Contribute to regulatory submissions, including specification of overview documents and responses to regulatory questions.

  • Identify opportunities for the application of modelling and simulation to improve study design.

  • Identify opportunities to improve methodologies and provide practical solutions to statistical challenges.

  • Apply statistical methodologies to improve processes and delivery activities.

  • Contribute to the development of best practices to improve quality, efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Be accountable for the quality of statistical work, providing discipline-specific expertise, constructive challenge, and proactively seeking coaching and development opportunities.
     

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • MSc or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics (with a substantial statistical component), or an equivalent qualification.

  • Proficiency in statistical programming (SAS and R/Python).

  • Knowledge of key technical and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience in the design, analysis and reporting of clinical studies across multiple therapeutic settings.

  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Solid understanding of statistical methods and their application to study design, analysis and interpretation.

  • Comfortable learning and applying new statistical methodologies.
