This is a high-autonomy, relationship-driven corporate development role focused on sourcing and advancing M&A opportunities within the software sector. The position is designed for an experienced professional who thrives in externally facing environments, engaging directly with founders and executives to build trust and identify acquisition opportunities. You will play a critical role in expanding and strengthening an M&A pipeline by initiating conversations, nurturing long-term relationships, and positioning a leading software acquirer as the partner of choice. The role requires strong business acumen, credibility in financial discussions, and the ability to quickly understand and evaluate companies. Operating in a flexible, part-time, remote setup, you will have the autonomy to structure your approach while contributing directly to strategic growth outcomes. This is a relationship-first role where persistence, curiosity, and communication skills translate directly into acquisition success.
Accountabilities:
- Identify, research, and develop a strong pipeline of software companies aligned with acquisition strategy and investment criteria.
- Initiate and conduct targeted outreach to founders, owners, and senior executives to generate high-quality M&A conversations.
- Build trust-based relationships with business leaders by understanding their goals, motivations, and potential exit considerations.
- Maintain consistent engagement with prospects to nurture long-term acquisition opportunities and move deals forward.
- Translate initial conversations into qualified acquisition opportunities and support progression toward completed transactions.
- Conduct rapid company and leadership assessments to tailor outreach and improve engagement effectiveness.
- Track all outreach activity, interactions, and pipeline updates accurately within CRM systems to support decision-making and reporting.
- Strong background in business, finance, corporate development, consulting, or related fields with proven high-performance experience.
- Solid understanding of M&A processes, valuation concepts, and business exits, with confidence engaging in strategic acquisition discussions.
- Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to quickly establish trust with senior stakeholders.
- Natural ability to network, connect, and engage with business owners in both formal and informal settings.
- Strong research skills with the ability to quickly analyze companies, industries, and leadership profiles.
- High intellectual curiosity and a consultative mindset, with a focus on learning from each interaction.
