Senior Data Scientist (LLM)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Data Scientist (LLM) based in Brazil.

This role offers the opportunity to lead the intelligence layer of a strategic conversational AI initiative powered by large language models and generative AI. You will help design and optimize AI-driven customer interactions, ensuring high-quality, secure, and reliable experiences across digital channels. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will combine advanced machine learning expertise with business strategy to deliver measurable outcomes. The position involves prompt engineering, model evaluation, conversational AI governance, and continuous optimization of LLM-based solutions. Accountabilities:

  • Design, evaluate, and optimize conversational AI models using advanced LLM evaluation methodologies and generative AI frameworks.
  • Curate and maintain specialized datasets to assess model quality, accuracy, and overall conversational performance.
  • Monitor key conversational metrics such as First Contact Resolution (FCR), fallback rates, response accuracy, and user experience indicators.
  • Conduct prompt engineering experiments, A/B testing, and model optimization initiatives to continuously improve AI performance.
  • Optimize voice and text processing pipelines, including Speech-to-Text and Text-to-Speech models, reducing latency and improving interaction quality.
  • Define and implement conversational AI guardrails, ensuring security, auditability, ethical behavior, and compliance with responsible AI principles.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to integrate AI capabilities into scalable production solutions.
  • Translate complex technical findings into clear recommendations for business leaders and support strategic decision-making.
  • Requirements:

    • Proven experience as a Data Scientist working on machine learning and AI-driven products.
    • Strong hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and generative AI applications.
    • Expertise in AI evaluation techniques and frameworks, including RAG, G-Eval, or equivalent methodologies.
    • Advanced proficiency in Python and common data science libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
    • Strong foundation in statistics, probability, and machine learning principles.
    • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
    • Ability to translate business requirements into measurable, scalable, and auditable AI solutions.
    • Excellent analytical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills in multidisciplinary environments.
    • Nice to Have:

      • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) AI services.
      • Knowledge of Speech-to-Text and Text-to-Speech technologies, including Whisper or similar solutions.
      • Experience fine-tuning language models such as Llama, Cohere, GPT, or comparable architectures.
      • Familiarity with NeMo Guardrails or similar conversational AI safety frameworks.
      • Previous experience with voice assistants, contact center automation, or customer service AI solutions.
      • Industry experience in telecommunications or other high-volume customer interaction environments.
