Designer II
Summary
The Designer II is responsible for creating and sustaining products and solutions that meet customer and business requirements. This role collaborates cross-functionally with Product Management, Customers, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Planning, and external vendors to support the successful development and lifecycle management of products. The Designer II applies intermediate-level expertise in CAD tools, packaging design, and the development of enclosures and sheet metal components. This position supports both new product development and enhancements to existing products, ensuring designs are functional, manufacturable, and aligned with quality and cost objectives. Through strong technical execution and collaboration, The Designer II contributes to innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Create 2D & 3D CAD drawings / Models
- Creation of assembly drawings for manufacturing
- Thorough understanding of tolerancing and dimensioning
- Change Coordination
- Quoting / Estimating
- Create & Maintain Bills of Materials
- Implementing appropriate Packaging
- Provides CAD and technical support of existing product designs
- Collaborates on new product requests
- Identifies and integrates second source/replacement components
- Updates / maintains information within ERP and PLM systems
- Interfaces directly with Sales Personnel, customers and or Product Managers, to obtain & fulfill product requirements
- Works with approved Vendors, Strategic Purchasing, Planning and Production to obtain pricing and lead-time information
- Answers questions and provides information to manufacturing as needed
- Works with manufacturing team to create new processes/techniques for product manufacturing
- Support production with design interpretation and troubleshooting
- Collaborate on design reviews and cross-functional projects
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and procurement teams
- Support manufacturing with design interpretation and troubleshooting
- Other duties as assigned by one’s Manager
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology or Technical Degree in related field
- Knowledge of GD&T preferred for mechanical engineers
- 2-5 years of mechanical or electrical design preferred
- Can read & understand Electrical schematics
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects, while occasionally being the prime contributor
- Communicate and work effectively with others
- 3D Solid Modeling experience
- 2D Drawing experience
Essential Job Functions
- Occasional Domestic Travel required
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
- Regular and on-time attendance.
- This is a hybrid position unless otherwise specified requiring 3 days in the office.
