Role

The Design Liaison Engineering team is the face of Turbine Module engineering to supply chain. This team leads second source supplier qualifications, dispositioning deviant hardware, supporting lean activities, cost reduction, scrap reduction and pre-emptive scrap and non-conformance reductions as well. The team is critical to enabling fulfillment for our customers. The HGP Design Liaison Engineer in the Design Liaison Engineering team works as a hands-on engineer supporting hardware quality and fulfillment. The Hot Gas Path engineer will interface closely with the component design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and the Global Supply Chain initiatives team to ensure GE Vernova delivers quality hardware that meets the needs of our service centers and customers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Quality & Fulfillment: Partner with Global Supply Chain (GSC) to drive improvements and disposition deviant hardware; perform and support root cause analysis (RCA) and develop corrective actions (CAPA) to improve product reliability.
  • Design & Producibility: Support design for producibility, lean flow, and concurrent engineering. Take technical ownership of mechanical hardware and apply mechanical principles to resolve complex issues.
  • Qualification & Technology: Support hardware qualifications for new processes/equipment. Lead technology development and qualification of special processes (castings, coating, hole-drilling).
  • Project Execution: Participate in Supply Chain Kaizens and Lean Action Workouts. Manage milestones and seek peer validation for design solutions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Controlled Title Holders, analysis experts, and global sites. Actively participate in design reviews to communicate technical details, present substantiations, and provide data-backed recommendations to support hardware disposition and quality decisions.
  • Leadership: Demonstrate teamwork and a positive working environment; drive a sense of urgency and quality with speed.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • B.Tech/BE or M.Tech./M.E. in Mechanical Engineering (specialization in Design or Manufacturing Technology)
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in turbomachinery, gas turbines, or related rotating equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical design and analysis (Finite Element Analysis/ANSYS).
  • Technical background on HGP components, including NX/CAD and engineering drawing standards (GD&T).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project execution skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a global matrix organization and collaborate across functions.
  • Experience and familiarity with advanced manufacturing processes

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong customer and product mindset, with a focus on quality, operability, and timely execution.
  • Good understanding of turbomachinery design principles and multidisciplinary interactions.
  • Graduate-level exposure to numerical methods, finite element methods, or related analytical techniques.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages such as Python, Fortran, Visual Basic, or Java for engineering automation and analysis efficiency.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML techniques and their application to gas turbine design engineering is preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in innovation, continuous improvement, and Lean practices.
