Your New Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking an Automation Engineer to join our Digital Modernisation Division, working in some of the most complex, multi-vendor technology environments, alongside a supportive and collaborative team. This is a 12 month maximum tenure contract role.

This role requires technical expertise in automation engineering, including the implementation and management of Ansible Automation infrastructure and playbooks. You will bring a thoughtful and solutions-focused approach, strong communication skills, and a commitment to learning, while helping optimise network performance and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and collections to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment

  • Manage and optimise the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform environment, including inventories, credentials, and controllers

  • Translate manual processes into scalable, reliable automation workflows integrated with enterprise platforms and services

  • Embed automation into CI/CD pipelines and delivery processes to improve consistency and efficiency

  • Collaborate across teams to identify opportunities, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve automation frameworks and practices

About You and What You'll Bring

  • Experience developing and maintaining automation using Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, including playbooks, roles, and workflows

  • Strong understanding of infrastructure automation concepts such as Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, and orchestration

  • Scripting experience using Python, Bash, or PowerShell to support automation solutions

  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems, cloud platforms, and modern DevOps practices including CI/CD and version control (Git)

  • Strong collaboration, documentation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and build effective relationships

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and be able to gain and maintain a Baseline level security clearance.
