Software Engineering Manager, Open Source Security

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

In this role, you will lead a team dedicated to securing the global open-source supply chain. You will move security from an afterthought to a core development guideline by generating insights into software dependencies and integrating them into Google’s software factory. You will oversee the development of open-source projects, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), which provide transparency and security tools to the industry.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Experience in working with two or more from the following: open source technologies, security software development, vulnerability assessment, internet infrastructure, distributed and parallel systems, networking, or developing software systems.
  • Experience with developing agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions.
  • Ability to present complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
