The role sits at the heart of a high-scale, real-time communication platform that powers how millions of businesses interact with their customers every day. You will lead the engineering team responsible for building and evolving a mission-critical omnichannel inbox that unifies SMS, email, WhatsApp, calls, and social messaging into a single workspace. This is a high-impact leadership role where product thinking, technical depth, and execution excellence come together. You will shape both the architecture and roadmap of a system used at massive global scale, ensuring speed, reliability, and intuitive user experience. The environment is fast-moving, ownership-driven, and highly collaborative across product, design, and platform teams. You will play a key role in defining what modern business communication infrastructure looks like. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who wants to build category-defining software.

Accountabilities:

You will own the end-to-end delivery, performance, and evolution of the Conversations product area, leading a team of engineers building a high-scale omnichannel inbox. You will drive both technical and product execution, ensuring the platform remains fast, reliable, and scalable while continuously improving user experience.

  • Lead and grow a team of 10+ engineers working across frontend, backend, and platform components of the Conversations product.
  • Own architecture and system design decisions for real-time messaging, multi-channel communication, and large-scale state synchronization.
  • Partner closely with product and design teams to define roadmap priorities, translate requirements into technical execution, and challenge solutions where needed.
  • Ensure system reliability, low latency, and scalability across high-volume messaging workloads and distributed infrastructure.
  • Drive engineering execution through strong operational practices including sprint planning, delivery tracking, and incident management.
  • Establish engineering best practices around code quality, testing, observability, and performance optimization.
  • Guide technical direction across Vue.js frontend systems, Node.js/Go backend services, and cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Foster a high-performance team culture through mentorship, structured feedback, hiring, and career development.
  • Requirements

    The ideal candidate is a strong engineering leader with deep hands-on technical expertise and proven experience building and scaling complex, high-traffic systems. You combine architectural thinking with strong product judgment and are comfortable operating in fast-paced environments.

    • 8+ years of software engineering experience with 2–3+ years in engineering management roles leading teams of 8+ engineers.
    • Strong hands-on technical background with ability to review architecture, debug production systems, and contribute to critical technical decisions.
    • Experience building or scaling high-scale distributed systems or real-time communication platforms.
    • Strong understanding of frontend and/or backend systems at scale, ideally both.
    • Proven ability to deliver customer-facing products with strong product intuition and quality focus.
    • Experience working with event-driven architectures, APIs, and cloud-native systems.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and grow high-performing engineering teams.
