This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Vice President of Engineering based in India.
This is a senior executive leadership role at the intersection of AI, platform engineering, and large-scale distributed systems. You will shape how next-generation AI capabilities—particularly LLMs, agentic workflows, and human-in-the-loop systems—are built, deployed, and scaled across a high-impact fintech environment. The role combines deep technical ownership with organizational leadership, requiring a strong hands-on engineering background alongside executive-level decision-making. You will drive engineering velocity, architectural excellence, and AI-native product development across global teams. The position is both strategic and operational, balancing long-term platform vision with day-to-day execution. It requires close collaboration with product, ML, and executive stakeholders to translate innovation into production-grade systems. This is a high-autonomy role where your decisions directly influence product scalability, reliability, and business growth.
Accountabilities:
- Own end-to-end engineering execution, including roadmap planning, sprint delivery, release quality, and cross-team dependency management across distributed teams.
- Drive engineering velocity by fostering a high-trust, high-ownership culture focused on rapid iteration and continuous improvement.
- Lead the integration of AI-native capabilities, including LLMs, agentic systems, and GenAI workflows, into core products at scale.
- Define and enforce engineering standards across architecture, code quality, observability, security, and incident response.
- Architect and oversee large-scale distributed systems with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Remain hands-on in critical technical decisions, including architecture reviews and system design for high-impact initiatives.
- Lead and scale a global engineering organization across multiple geographies, including hiring, talent development, and leadership coaching.
- Partner with executive stakeholders on technical strategy, budget planning, cloud cost optimization, and enterprise commitments.
Requirements:
- 14+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5+ years in senior engineering leadership roles at scale (Series C or equivalent growth stage).
- Strong IC foundation with progression through Architect or Principal Engineer roles, with deep expertise in system design and architecture.
- Proven experience building and shipping production-grade AI/ML systems, including LLMs, RAG pipelines, or agentic workflows.
- Strong background in distributed systems and cloud-native architectures (AWS preferred), with experience scaling high-availability platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering organizations and partner effectively with CTO/CEO-level stakeholders.
- Experience in fintech, document AI, or regulated, data-intensive environments is highly desirable.
- Track record of building or transforming engineering culture, including hiring systems, performance frameworks, and career ladders.
- Strong understanding of modern developer productivity tools and AI-augmented software development practices.
- Excellent executive communication, strategic thinking, and cross-functional leadership skills.
