Financial Reporting Analyst
ABOUT THE ROLE
Amwins is a leading global specialty insurance distributor seeking a detail-oriented Financial Reporting Analyst to join our Finance team in Charlotte, NC. In this role, you will assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements and management reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP. You will also serve as a resource for interpreting complex accounting standards and providing practical solutions to technical accounting matters. This role plays an active part in supporting capital transactions, including debt raises and acquisitions, both of which are recurring parts of our business. You will work cross-functionally with Accounting, Operations, and Finance unit leaders to deliver timely, actionable financial information.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reporting packages in accordance with US GAAP.
- Support the financial close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Serve as a resource for interpreting technical accounting guidance and recommending practical solutions to complex accounting issues as they arise.
- Research and document accounting positions on new or evolving transactions, ensuring alignment with US GAAP and internal policies.
- Support capital transactions, including debt raises, by assisting with the related accounting treatment and preparing financial schedules and presentations used throughout the capital raise process.
- Assist with purchase accounting for acquisitions in support of the Company’s active acquisition program.
- Develop and maintain financial models, dashboards, and reports using Excel and Power BI.
- Analyze financial results, identify trends, and communicate key findings to Finance leadership and business partners.
- Collaborate with Accounting, Operations, and Finance teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data.
- Support external audit processes by preparing supporting schedules and documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including the automation of recurring reports and enhancements to existing reporting processes.
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as requested by Finance leadership.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Working knowledge of US GAAP, including the ability to research and apply technical accounting guidance
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, modeling)
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
