Job Description


The Turbine Design Engineer (TDE) provides technical leadership for project-specific teams developing retrofit designs for the existing steam turbine fleet. These solutions are tailored to customer and unit needs and are aimed at increasing output, improving performance and reliability, and extending the life of installed equipment.

This role is responsible for steampath design and overall technical execution for assigned services projects. The TDE works with engineers across disciplines and global locations, including Schenectady, Baden, and Querétaro, to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that meet performance, schedule, and cost targets. The TDE also supports feasibility studies, technical reporting, and the resolution of factory and field issues.

Roles and Responsibilities:


o    Lead the delivery of high-quality retrofit engineering designs for existing steam turbines that meet customer, performance, schedule, and cost targets
o    Develop steampath and related design solutions that increase output, improve performance and reliability, and extend equipment life
o    Manage assigned design teams from engineering release through installation, driving progress and timely technical decisions
o    Perform feasibility studies and prepare supporting technical documentation
o    Provide technical support for factory and field issues during project execution
o    Coordinate with cross-functional and global engineering teams to deliver services solutions for the installed steam turbine fleet


Required Qualifications:
o    Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical, chemical or similar) from an accredited college or university (or equivalent experience).
o    Significant engineering experience in design of rotating equipment, operability, or services engineering
o    Proficiency in English

Desired Characteristics:
o    Advanced degree or Edison Program graduate
o    Experience in steam turbine component, steampath, or retrofit design
o    Experience in steam or gas turbine design, operability, retrofit processes, tools and procedures
o    Self-starter with strong energy, a positive attitude, and a track record of delivering on commitments
o    Demonstrated alignment with the GE Vernova Way: Innovation, Customers, Lean, and Accountability
o    Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage and influence all levels of GE Vernova and customer organizations
o    Excellent communication skills and strong intercultural awareness
o    Passion for quality, Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements
o    Proficiency in a second language such as German, French, Spanish, or Polish

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
