THE OPPORTUNITY
Silvus is seeking a Hardware Component Engineer - Electrical with a strong Electrical Engineering foundation and working knowledge of mechanical components. This role is responsible for component selection, qualification, and lifecycle management to support product development and sustainment activities, ensuring our teams have the right components at the right time and managing the long-term health of our product builds. This position will report to the Director of Hardware Engineering Operations.
This position is 100% onsite, Monday through Friday, at Silvus Technologies’ headquarters in the heart of vibrant West Los Angeles, CA.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Select, qualify, and release electronic and electromechanical components, including connectors, cables, and related hardware.
Review and approve component specifications, datasheets, and drawings for new product introductions (NPI).
Partner with design, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure proper component integration and compatibility.
Evaluate alternate and second-source components to mitigate supply chain risks.
Monitor component lifecycle (PCN/EOL/obsolescence) and drive proactive mitigation plans.
Support failure analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective actions for component-related issues.
Ensure components meet regulatory, environmental, and reliability requirements (e.g., RoHS, REACH).
Maintain and improve component databases, part numbering, and documentation standards.
Work with suppliers, manufacturing and quality teams to resolve technical and quality concerns.
Perform other related duties of which the above are representative.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
3–5 years of experience in component engineering, hardware development, or a related role.
Strong understanding of electronic components (FPGA, Processor, FEM, RF) and working knowledge of mechanical components such as connectors, harnesses, and enclosures.
Experience interpreting datasheets, mechanical drawings, and industry standards.
Familiarity with PLM systems, engineering processes (e.g. DFMEA, PPAP) and component databases.
Knowledge of component lifecycle management and supply chain considerations.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, or U.S. Permanent Resident) due to clients under U.S. federal contracts.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Extensive experience with digital electronics system and RF system design.
Extensive experience with wireless communication systems design and productization.
Experience with high-speed connectors, RF connectors, or MIL-grade components.
Experience interpreting datasheets, mechanical drawings, and industry standards.
Familiarity with environmental and reliability standards (e.g., IPC, JEDEC).
Experience supporting NPI and manufacturing environments.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Effective communication across cross-functional teams.
Proactive in identifying risks and driving solutions.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to do the following:
Lift up to 25 lbs.
Perform bending and reaching movements to place items on lower and higher shelves.
Kneeling or squatting to access lower shelves.
Walking/Moving in the labs.
COMPENSATION: $95,000 - $125,000 /annually
