This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the design and delivery of electrical systems that power a wide range of complex building projects, including institutional, commercial, and healthcare facilities. The position combines hands-on technical design work with project leadership responsibilities, including client interaction and proposal development. You will be involved in both field and office-based activities, supporting projects across multiple stages of delivery. Accountabilities:
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering electrical engineering design solutions across a variety of building projects while ensuring compliance with technical, safety, and client requirements. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support project execution from early concept design through to construction and commissioning.
- Design and prepare contract documentation for electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and communication systems
- Participate in building condition assessments and support technical evaluations of existing infrastructure
- Coordinate design activities and support staff across multiple disciplines and project teams
- Manage project deliverables, budgets, and schedules to ensure successful execution
- Contribute to proposals, respond to RFPs, and support business development initiatives
- Prepare construction cost estimates and provide technical input throughout project planning
- Conduct construction administration, field reviews, and commissioning support activities
- Review vendor submissions, technical RFQs, and participate in bid evaluations
- Support energy efficiency and renewable energy studies and initiatives
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across regional and international project teams
- Ensure all work meets quality, safety, and corporate standards
Requirements:
This role requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering design for buildings, along with professional licensure and proven experience delivering complex projects in multidisciplinary environments. You should be comfortable balancing technical design responsibilities with client-facing and project coordination duties.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Canada or eligible for provincial registration
- Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design for commercial and institutional buildings
- Strong knowledge of power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and building communication systems
- Experience with construction administration, commissioning, and field reviews
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit
- Experience with lighting design or simulation tools such as AGi32; ElumTools is an asset
- Familiarity with building codes, standards, and sustainable design principles
- Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, budgets, and deadlines effectively
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites
- Additional certifications (PMP, LEED AP, RCDD, CEM, etc.) considered an asset
