Senior Automation Project Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Automation Project Manager based in the United States.

This role is responsible for leading the end-to-end execution of complex intralogistics and warehouse automation projects, ensuring seamless delivery from contract signature through final customer acceptance. You will oversee the full lifecycle of large-scale automation implementations, including materials handling systems, warehouse control systems, and integrated logistics technologies. Acting as the central coordination point across engineering, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers, you will ensure alignment on scope, timelines, and quality standards. The position requires strong project ownership in fast-paced, high-complexity environments where precision, structure, and communication are critical. You will manage schedules, budgets, risks, and reporting while maintaining continuous engagement with both internal teams and external stakeholders. This is a highly visible role with direct impact on customer success, operational excellence, and project profitability in mission-critical logistics environments.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the full implementation of automated intralogistics and warehouse systems, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and timeline constraints.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and procurement activities in collaboration with purchasing teams to ensure effective project execution.
  • Act as the primary interface between customers, internal teams, and external suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee cross-functional coordination across engineering, IT, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
  • Maintain and distribute updated project schedules, ensuring alignment across all stakeholders.
  • Provide weekly project updates and structured monthly reporting to management and stakeholders.
  • Manage the transition from design and planning phases into execution, construction, and commissioning.
  • Define and validate detailed technical scope, including IT and control system requirements.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with contractual obligations, quality standards, cost controls, and delivery timelines.
  • Conduct risk assessments and proactively manage project risks throughout execution.
  • Oversee site construction activities, installation coordination, and commissioning support.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and execute final system acceptance with customers.
  • Compile full technical and project documentation and ensure proper handover to after-sales service teams.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, IT, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
    • 5+ years of experience in project management, ideally within intralogistics, automation, or general contractor environments.
    • Strong understanding of warehouse automation systems, materials handling equipment, control systems, and logistics IT.
    • Proven experience delivering complex turnkey automation or industrial engineering projects.
    • Proficiency in MS Office tools, particularly MS Project and Excel.
    • Ability to interpret and work with CAD drawings and technical documentation.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills in fast-paced project environments.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with professional English proficiency.
    • Strong stakeholder management abilities across technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Comfortable with travel and working on-site as required by project phases.
    • High attention to detail, strong work ethic, and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
