CarMax is seeking an experienced Talent Management leader to own the creation, implementation and sustainment of our Service Operations & Logistics training and development programs. In this role, you will lead a component of the training strategy for our Service Operations & Logistics organizations, equipping associates and leaders across the field to deliver an iconic customer experience safely and efficiently.
As a leader within the talent management community, you will play a key role in providing insight, feedback and recommendations related to the training needs within the business, directly influencing talent related priorities and investments. What you will do – Essential Responsibilities
Collaborate with executive sponsors to conduct needs training analysis and align on strategic training priorities to strengthen our operations, including safety and compliance, and enhance associate development.
Implement innovative approaches and leading-edge adult learning practices that deliver measurable, sustainable results.
Lead the instructional design, content development and delivery of training and development programs, processes and tools.
Participate in all aspects of training projects and program development including organizing, leading and completing the day-to-day work. This includes developing materials such as facilitator guides, training tools, online curriculum and web-based courses.
Facilitate and lead presentations to stakeholders and leaders as it relates to talent management needs including talent calibrations, succession planning, program updates, and training sessions to support talent initiatives.
Collaborate across Service Operations, Logistics, Process Engineering, HR Talent Management, and other peer organizations to enable sustainable, optimal solutions are delivered to the field
Serve as a talent management SME for corporate initiatives, field development & broader talent management efforts
Travel as needed to conduct in-store needs analysis, implement pilot programs, or validate training solutions.
Purpose of the role
The Senior Manager, Talent Management is responsible for the development and management of multiple talent initiatives and long-term programs in the areas of training, associate development and succession planning. The Senior Manager plays a key leadership role in the development and deployment of the Service Operations and Logistics talent management strategy, defining and owning the delivery of critical roadmap initiatives to ensure the department meets/exceeds performance targets.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree, or the equivalent experience
5+ years of experience with Training, Learning & Development, Talent Management or Human Resources, including training program design, development and deployment
3-5 years of experience managing, leading or contributing to strategic projects
This role will be required to create & collaborate on training content using eLearning authoring tools and multimedia creation software such as Captivate, Articulate, Adobe Creative and/or Storyline. Prior experience required.
Internal candidates must have completed SMDP or SMAP
Experience in a retail, automotive, or logistics environment preferred
Skills:
Experience leading or collaborating on strategic initiatives with cross-functional teams
Demonstrated initiative and creative approaches to problem solving
Ability to manage competing projects, tasks and demands while meeting tight deadlines with minimal supervision
Ability to grow associates through constructive feedback and encouragement
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Excel required
This role will be based out of the CarMax Home Office (Richmond, VA) and associates will work onsite 4 days per week with flexibility to work remote on Friday.
