Director of Talent & People Operations

This role sits at the core of building and scaling a high-performance, mission-driven organization where people, culture, and operational excellence are deeply interconnected. You will lead the full spectrum of talent and people operations, from recruiting top-tier talent to designing scalable HR systems that support rapid growth. The position blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution, requiring someone who can move seamlessly between high-level workforce planning and day-to-day people operations. You will shape how teams are hired, developed, and supported across the employee lifecycle, ensuring both exceptional employee experience and strong operational rigor. Acting as a trusted partner to leadership, you will help define compensation frameworks, performance systems, and organizational design as the company scales. This is a highly visible role where your work directly impacts culture, retention, and overall company performance.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead end-to-end talent acquisition efforts, partnering with hiring managers to design and execute efficient, high-quality recruiting processes
  • Own the full people operations function across the employee lifecycle, building scalable systems, policies, and infrastructure to support company growth
  • Design and manage total rewards programs, including compensation structures, benefits administration, and equity alignment
  • Develop and optimize onboarding and offboarding experiences that ensure consistency, compliance, and strong employee engagement
  • Ensure HR compliance across relevant frameworks and standards, including data privacy, security, and industry-specific regulatory requirements
  • Drive performance management processes, including review cycles, feedback systems, and employee development frameworks
  • Manage employee relations with discretion and sound judgment, serving as a trusted resource for sensitive matters
  • Own HR systems (ATS, HRIS, analytics tools) and ensure seamless integration and accurate people data across platforms
  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning, headcount forecasting, and organizational design aligned with business goals
  • Requirements:

    • 7+ years of experience in talent and people operations, including leadership roles in fast-paced startup environments
    • Proven experience owning core HR systems such as ATS, HRIS, and performance management platforms
    • Strong background in full-cycle recruiting and building candidate-centric hiring processes in collaboration with senior leaders
    • Experience operating in complex, distributed environments, including multi-state or compliance-heavy organizations
    • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive employee relations matters including investigations, restructurings, and terminations
    • Strong knowledge of HR compliance frameworks and experience working within regulated or standards-driven environments
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and clearly articulate people strategies across all levels of the organization
    • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple high-impact priorities simultaneously
    • Experience leading company-wide initiatives such as compensation redesign, performance frameworks, or HR system transformations
