Senior Legal Counsel, Commercial

This role sits at the intersection of commercial law, product innovation, and strategic business partnership within a fast-scaling technology environment. You will act as a key legal advisor supporting high-impact commercial deals, including customer agreements, API and data contracts, and strategic vendor partnerships. The position requires a pragmatic, business-oriented legal mindset, helping teams navigate risk while enabling speed and growth. You will collaborate closely with go-to-market, product, marketing, finance, and security teams to structure solutions that are both legally sound and operationally efficient. In addition, you will play a pivotal role in modernizing legal operations through AI-enabled workflows and scalable contract processes. Reporting to senior legal leadership, this role is highly cross-functional and influential, shaping how legal supports innovation across the organization.
Accountabilities:
- Lead end-to-end negotiation, drafting, and execution of complex commercial agreements, including customer contracts, API/data agreements, and vendor arrangements
- Partner with go-to-market, product, marketing, finance, and security teams to identify risks and develop practical, business-enabling legal solutions
- Provide strategic legal guidance to senior leadership, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives and translating complexity into actionable advice
- Advise on legal considerations related to AI, data usage, automation, privacy, and product innovation
- Design and implement AI-enabled legal workflows to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability of legal operations
- Monitor and address emerging legal and regulatory developments affecting commercial and technology operations
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and serve as a trusted legal partner across the organization
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and mentorship within the legal team while continuously improving legal processes
- Significant in-house experience at a technology or SaaS company, with deep expertise in commercial contracting and negotiations
- Proven track record of independently leading and closing complex, high-value commercial agreements
- Strong experience advising product, engineering, and business teams with a practical, solution-oriented legal approach
- Working knowledge in at least two of the following areas: privacy law, intellectual property, or marketing law
- Hands-on experience leveraging AI tools to support legal operations, contract review, drafting, and legal research
- Strong understanding of data protection principles, AI governance frameworks, and cloud contracting standards
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex legal concepts for non-legal stakeholders
- Strong judgment in managing ambiguity, prioritizing risks, and escalating issues appropriately
- Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and build trust-based relationships in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple high-priority matters simultaneously
- Competitive base salary range: $185,000 – $250,000 annually, depending on experience and location
