Legal Secretary

This is a high-impact legal support role within a fast-paced litigation environment, supporting attorneys handling complex insurance defense and commercial litigation matters. The position plays a key part in ensuring case files, filings, and communications are managed accurately and efficiently across multiple jurisdictions. You will be responsible for preparing and managing legal documents, coordinating court filings, and supporting discovery workflows in both state and federal courts. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting multiple attorneys. You will engage in e-filing, docket management, and case coordination activities that directly support case progression and legal outcomes. Accountabilities:
This role is responsible for providing comprehensive litigation and administrative support to attorneys, ensuring smooth case progression and accurate legal documentation across all stages of litigation. You will play a key role in managing filings, discovery, and case organization while maintaining strict attention to deadlines and procedural requirements.
- Prepare, format, and file pleadings, motions, discovery documents, and correspondence in state and federal courts
- Manage e-filing processes, docketing, calendaring deadlines, and maintaining accurate case tracking systems
- Support discovery workflows, including document review, e-discovery coordination, and exhibit preparation
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation, case organization, and maintenance of litigation files
- Coordinate communication and documentation between internal teams, courts, and external parties
- Ensure compliance with applicable court rules and procedural requirements, including Utah state and federal rules where applicable
- 5+ years of experience as a legal secretary or legal assistant in a law firm setting
- Strong experience in insurance defense and commercial litigation required
- Proficiency in e-filing systems for state and federal courts
- Familiarity with discovery processes, docketing, case management, and document production workflows
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple attorneys and deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred
- Knowledge of Utah state and federal court rules is a plus
