About This Role

Are you ready to shape how marketing technology enables real business outcomes at one of the most recognized brands in retail? CarMax is seeking a detail-oriented, technical and execution-focused Marketing Technology Senior Consultant to serve as the operational backbone of our MarTech ecosystem.

This is a high-impact role where you will lead how marketing requests turn into delivered solutions—ensuring systems run smoothly, work is clearly defined, and initiatives are executed effectively. You’ll partner closely with business owners, vendors, and cross-functional teams to translate business needs into action, maintain platform health, and drive adoption of critical marketing systems.

What You Will Do – Essential Responsibilities

Execution Ownership & Delivery Coordination

  • Serve as the primary technical lead for end-to-end coordination of MarTech initiatives across internal teams, vendors, and partners
  • Track status, risks, dependencies, and next steps to ensure consistent forward progress
  • Proactively remove blockers and communicate updates and outcomes to stakeholders

Intake & Requirements Management

  • Serve as the front door for all Marketing Technology requests
  • Gather, document, and translate business needs into clear, technical, actionable work items
  • Lead intake processes, templates, and taxonomy to drive consistency and clarity across requests

System Administration & Governance

  • Administer and maintain assigned MarTech platforms, ensuring day-to-day operational health
  • Configure workflows, permissions, and standards across systems
  • Lead system hygiene, data integrity, and ongoing platform optimization

Support, Training & Enablement

  • Serve as the first line of support for users across MarTech systems
  • Develop SOPs, documentation, and reference materials to scale usage
  • Deliver training and enablement to drive adoption and effective usage of platforms

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Partner closely with business owners to translate business intent into executable technical solutions and ensure alignment throughout delivery
  • Coordinate across cross-functional teams to support aligned execution
  • Escalate architectural or cross-team issues to ensure alignment across systems and delivery teams

Purpose of the Role

The CarMax Marketing Tech stack powers how the Marketing department operates to deliver exceptional Brand experiences to consumers. This position serves an important role in the ecosystem, as the primary execution lead for key MarTech initiatives, ensuring that marketing technology systems and workflows operate effectively to deliver on business needs that drive business outcomes.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 3-5 years demonstrated experience in marketing systems operations, marketing technology, , Business Systems analysis or a related field
  • Experience working with MarTech platforms (e.g., DAM, workflow tools, campaign systems)
  • Experience with hands-on system administration, including user management, system structures, workflows, configurations, etc
  • Strong ability to translate business needs into clear, structured technical and/or software requirements
  • Experience managing workstreams with multiple stakeholders, vendors, or cross-functional teams
  • Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting system adoption, training, and change management
  • Experience in user experience design, ensuring delivered solutions are intuitive and effective for intended audiences
  • Direct experience working with one or more of the following systems: Reach, Aprimo DAM, Monday.com, Sprout

Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the CarMax Technology Innovation Center (Richmond, VA) and associates will work onsite 4 days per week
