Associate Director, Corporate Communications

At Bumble, our mission is to bring people together, face to face to create more love in the world. As part of the Communications & Corporate Affairs team, the Associate Director, Corporate Communications plays a vital role in protecting and strengthening the trust that makes this mission possible.

This is a high-impact individual contributor role operating at the intersection of corporate narrative, public policy, trust & safety, internal communications and reputational resilience. You will help shape how we show up to media, policymakers, investors, employees and members — ensuring our story reflects our values of Courage and Respect, especially in complex or high-visibility moments. Your work will directly influence how Bumble is understood as a public company, a women-first and safety-by-design platform, and a leader in responsible innovation. 

This role requires strong strategic judgment, disciplined execution, and the ability to translate nuanced policy, safety, and regulatory topics into clear, credible communications. You will also demonstrate fluency in emerging AI tools to enhance monitoring, messaging development, and response preparedness, embedding responsible AI practices into your communications approach. This role reports to the VP of Communications.

What You'll Do

Crisis & Issues Management

  • Drive crisis and issues communications across corporate, trust & safety, product, and policy matters, ensuring disciplined and consistent messaging.

  • Develop and maintain issues preparedness frameworks, scenario plans, and response playbooks in close partnership with Legal, Trust & Safety, and Executive stakeholders.

  • Serve as a trusted communicatioal risks, regulatory developments, and industry trends; proactively identify mitns advisor to senior leadership during high-stakes situations, providing clear recommendations grounded in reputational foresight and sound judgment.

  • Manage reactive and sensitive media engagement with composure, clarity, and alignment to public company disclosure considerations.

  • Monitor emerging reputationigation strategies and continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Conduct post-incident analysis to strengthen organizational readiness and reinforce a culture of learning and excellence.

  • Serve as the team lead to manage and support the company’s corporate communications agency.

  • Trust & Safety Communications

    • Shape strategic communications frameworks that clearly position and articulte Bumble as a leader in member safety, platform integrity, and responsible and ethical innovation.

    • Translate trust & safety strategy, enforcement updates, and policy evolution into accessible messaging for members, media, policymakers, and investors in a time sensitive manner.

    • Partner cross-functionally with Trust & Safety, Product, Legal, and Public Policy teams to ensure transparent, member-first storytelling that reflects our value of Respect.

    • Develop messaging toolkits and talk tracks to support global safety feature rollouts, enforcement communications, and regulatory updates.

    • Position Bumble as a leader in proactive safety innovation and responsible platform governance.

    • Corporate Affairs Communications

      • Help shape and evolve Bumble’s overarching corporate narrative in alignment with enterprise strategy, growth priorities, and public policy commitments.

      • Own and execute internal communications strategies that strengthen employee engagement, support organizational priorities, and amplify leadership messaging across a global workforce.

      • Partner with Investor Relations to deliver integrated communications around earnings, strategic initiatives, leadership transitions, and corporate milestones.

      • Drive proactive storytelling that reinforces Bumble’s differentiated market position and long-term, responsible business practices.

      • Ensure message consistency across Corporate Affairs, Executive Communications, and external stakeholders through disciplined narrative development.

      • Leverage AI-enabled tools to enhance sentiment analysis, media monitoring, and drafting efficiency while maintaining ethical and privacy standards.

About You

 

  • Strong experience in corporate, crisis, and/or trust & safety communications within technology, digital platforms, or consumer-facing public companies.

  • Typically requires 8-10 years of experience, though we welcome candidates with alternative backgrounds that demonstrate equivalent skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate confidently in high-visibility, fast-paced environments while advising senior leaders with clarity and discretion.

  • Deep understanding of platform governance, safety frameworks, regulatory landscapes, and reputational risk management.

  • Proven track record developing issues preparedness frameworks, leading scenario planning, and executing disciplined crisis response strategies

  • Exceptional writing and editorial skills, with strong instincts for tone, clarity, and multi-stakeholder alignment across media, investors, and policymakers.

  • Experience partnering with Legal and Investor Relations, with familiarity around public company disclosure dynamics.

  • Advanced AI fluency — independently leveraging AI tools to enhance research, monitoring, drafting, and insight generation while applying strong ethical judgment and protecting sensitive information.
  • You demonstrate Courage when navigating complex external conversations, Respect in how you represent members and stakeholders, and take ownership of outcomes through thoughtful, agile execution.
  • Advanced AI fluency — independently leveraging AI tools to enhance research, monitoring, drafting, and insight generation while applying strong ethical judgment and protecting sensitive information.
