Job Description

Visa’s Corporate IT organization is on a multi-year transformation to modernize the digital workplace, elevate employee experience, and enable secure, scalable, and frictionless productivity across the enterprise. Client Engineering is a critical pillar of this strategy, responsible for delivering highly reliable, secure, and intuitive endpoint platforms that support Visa’s global workforce.

We are seeking a dynamic, transformational leader to join our team as Director, Client Engineering – macOS. This role owns Visa’s global macOS platform strategy, engineering, and operations—defining the end-to-end platform vision; driving modern management practices; and ensuring a best-in-class employee and developer experience at scale.

The Director operates at the intersection of engineering excellence, security and risk partnership, user experience, and operational rigor—setting standards, shaping investment decisions, and leading cross-functional execution across a complex, regulated global enterprise.

Job Scope

This role has global responsibility for macOS platform architecture, engineering, lifecycle management, and service delivery across Visa. You will partner closely with Information Security, Workplace Technology, Enterprise Architecture, and business stakeholders to ensure the macOS platform is secure, resilient, and optimized for modern work.

This role aligns to Visa’s Director job architecture and carries accountability for strategy, people leadership, financial stewardship, and cross-functional delivery.

Key Focus Areas:

The ideal candidate should be passionate about:

  • Exceptional employee and developer experience — delivering a secure, intuitive macOS platform that removes friction and improves productivity.
  • Modern, scalable platform management — strengthening zero-touch provisioning, configuration baselines, compliance-by-design, and automation.
  • Security and risk partnership — building a hardened, auditable, resilient platform aligned to enterprise security and regulatory expectations.
  • Operational excellence — measurable reliability, incident/problem management discipline, and continuous improvement rooted in telemetry and customer feedback.
  • Shift-left and self-service enablement — reducing recurring issues through standardization, automation, and clear knowledge and tooling.
  • Engineering culture and talent — building and developing a high-performing global team with strong standards, accountability, and inclusive leadership.
  • Vendor and financial stewardship — optimizing commercial strategy and total cost of ownership while increasing platform value.

Key Responsibilities:

Transformational Leadership: Inspire, motivate, and guide the macOS client engineering organization to deliver secure, reliable, and delightful outcomes at global scale.

  • Define and communicate a clear multi-year macOS platform vision and roadmap; translate strategy into executable quarterly outcomes and measurable KPIs.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a global team of macOS engineers and platform specialists; build talent pipelines, succession plans, and meaningful career paths.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, engineering excellence, and continuous learning; encourage constructive debate and psychological safety while driving decisions to closure.

Strategy & Platform Leadership: Own the end-to-end macOS platform strategy aligned to Digital Workplace and Security roadmaps.

  • Develop and execute modernization plans covering device management, OS lifecycle, patching, software delivery, compliance, and automation.
  • Drive adoption of modern Apple ecosystem capabilities (e.g., zero-touch provisioning, declarative management, secure identity, virtualization, and developer tooling) where they improve scale, reliability, and experience.
  • Act like an owner: shape investment trade-offs, optimize total cost of ownership, and ensure resources are directed toward highest-impact outcomes.

Engineering & Architecture: Serve as the senior technical authority for macOS platforms, tooling, and endpoint integrations.

  • Establish engineering standards, configuration baselines, and architectural patterns for macOS at enterprise scale; ensure designs are simple, supportable, and secure-by-default.
  • Lead design and implementation of endpoint management capabilities (e.g., MDM, EDR, identity, compliance, patching, software delivery), ensuring interoperability across the broader digital workplace ecosystem.
  • Think big and challenge the status quo by identifying emerging approaches that improve reliability, reduce operational toil, and accelerate secure delivery.

Operational Excellence: Own service health, reliability, and performance of the macOS environment.

  • Define and track platform KPIs, SLAs/SLOs, and experience metrics; use telemetry to identify patterns, prioritize improvements, and eliminate repeat issues.
  • Ensure strong operational processes for incident management, root cause analysis, change management, and continuous improvement; learn from mistakes and harden systems and processes.
  • Drive standardization, documentation, and knowledge practices (SOPs, runbooks, KBs) that enable shift-left support and reduce time-to-restore.

Security & Risk Partnership: Embed security, compliance, and resiliency into platform design and daily operations.

  • Partner with Cybersecurity and Risk teams to ensure macOS platforms meet Visa’s security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead implementation of security controls including device trust, endpoint protection, hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance attestation.
  • Hold ourselves and each other accountable for secure operations and timely remediation; ensure risk is transparent and actively managed.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Build trust-based partnerships that align platform capabilities with user and business needs.

  • Listen and learn from internal customers (employees, developers, support teams) to understand pain points and prioritize platform investments that improve experience and productivity.
  • Own vendor strategy and commercial oversight for Apple and endpoint management partners; manage performance, roadmaps, and commercial negotiations.
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership on platform strategy, health, risks, and investment decisions; decide quickly and move fast while balancing security and operational rigor.
