This role combines hands-on Android development with technical leadership in a fast-growing fintech environment focused on modern digital banking solutions. You will shape the architecture and technical direction of a high-impact mobile banking platform used by financial institutions and their members. The role requires balancing deep engineering execution with team leadership, ensuring delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performance Android applications. You will work closely with cross-functional partners including product, design, QA, and backend engineering to build seamless end-to-end mobile experiences. In addition to coding daily, you will guide engineering standards, mentor a small team, and influence product and technical strategy. This is a highly collaborative role suited for someone who thrives in startup-paced environments with strong ownership and accountability. Your work will directly contribute to improving digital banking experiences for thousands of users.

Accountabilities:

  • Own the technical direction and architecture of the Android banking platform, including roadmap decisions and long-term scalability strategy
  • Lead Android engineering execution across feature delivery, planning, estimation, and release readiness
  • Define and enforce engineering standards for Kotlin code quality, testing practices, and modern Android development patterns
  • Contribute directly to development, code reviews, debugging, and performance optimization within production systems
  • Manage and mentor a team of Android engineers, supporting performance development, 1:1s, and technical growth
  • Collaborate with product, design, backend, and QA teams to deliver cohesive and high-quality mobile banking experiences
  • Drive adoption of modern Android technologies including Jetpack Compose, coroutines, Flow, and clean architecture principles
  • Oversee Android testing strategies and CI/CD processes, ensuring reliability and fast, secure releases
  • Participate in on-call support and ensure rapid resolution of production issues impacting financial users
  • Ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards for handling sensitive financial data
  • Requirements:

    • 6+ years of Android development experience with strong Kotlin expertise
    • 2+ years of experience in a tech lead or engineering leadership role managing developers
    • Strong hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose and modern Android UI development practices
    • Deep understanding of Android architecture patterns such as MVVM, Clean Architecture, and Repository pattern
    • Experience with coroutines, Flow, reactive programming, and dependency injection (Hilt or Dagger)
    • Strong background in Android testing frameworks (JUnit, Espresso, MockK) and mobile CI/CD pipelines
    • Experience integrating REST APIs and working with mobile networking architectures
    • Proven leadership in fintech, banking, or other regulated product environments is highly desirable
    • Strong ability to make architectural trade-offs and solve complex technical challenges
    • Excellent communication skills with experience working in cross-functional agile teams
    • Experience with secure mobile development practices (biometrics, encryption, session management) is a strong asset
