Abbott Ireland Diabetes Care Division Donegal
The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system.
Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a results-driven Senior Manufacturing Manager to lead manufacturing performance in a highly regulated medical device / pharmaceutical environment. This role focuses on delivering strategic business outcomes while ensuring the highest standards of quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
You will be a strong, visible leader who can drive results through people, systems, and disciplined execution in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead manufacturing operations to deliver on safety, quality, compliance, cost, and delivery
Ensure full adherence to GxP, regulatory, and quality system requirements
Drive a culture of quality, compliance, and continuous improvement
Lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams with clear accountability
Manage multiple operational priorities while maintaining strategic focus
Champion CAPA, root cause analysis, and audit readiness
Optimise production planning, process flow, and operational efficiency
Deliver structured, data-driven problem solving and timely decision-making
Engage and influence stakeholders across functions and leadership levels
Education and Experience
Minimum 6 years’ experience in senior operations leadership within medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
3rd Level Degree in Engineering, Science or related discipline.
Strong track record in quality, compliance, and regulatory environments (GxP)
Proven ability to lead teams and drive performance in complex operations
Expertise in:
Lean manufacturing & continuous improvement
CAPA and root cause analysis
Production planning and regulated processes
Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills
Strong commercial awareness with a focus on delivering results
