In Abbott’s Nutrition division, we develop innovative science-based nutrition products that improve lives across every stage of life. At our Zwolle site, we design and produce a wide range of medical nutrition solutions tailored to patient needs, from oral and tube feeding products to disease-specific and pediatric nutrition.
The Opportunity
We are recruiting an Operational Technology Engineer to join our Engineering & Maintenance team in Zwolle, Netherlands.
In this role, you will support and optimize OT systems while driving innovation and improvement projects across manufacturing and automation environments.

What You’ll Work On
• Support and maintain OT systems, including hardware and software
• Manage communication between industrial control systems (e.g., OPC)
• Work with data platforms such as OSI PI (historian) and OEE/reporting systems
• Support at-line and in-line inspection technologies
• Ensure high system availability and reliability
• Troubleshoot system issues and implement preventive solutions
• Lead or support validation of Manufacturing Operational Management Systems (MOMS)
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and innovation projects
• Develop production visualizations, reporting, and analytics
• Support manufacturing cybersecurity programs
• Act as a key interface between industrial automation and IT teams
• Identify business needs and drive adoption of new technologies and best practices

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or ICT
• 2–5 years of experience in Operational Technology or industrial automation
• Knowledge of SCADA/PLC systems is a plus
• Experience within healthcare, nutrition, pharma, or similar regulated industries is advantageous
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and suppliers
• 2–5 years of experience in Operational Technology or industrial automation
• Knowledge of SCADA/PLC systems is a plus
