QA Automation Engineer - Product Reliability (Remote, China)

Bjakcareer · China

BJAK is building AI-powered workflow systems for insurance operations, covering quotes, policy issuance, endorsements, claims, payments and customer follow-ups. These systems are highly dynamic and multi-step, where small defects can quickly affect user trust, operational efficiency and business outcomes.

We're looking for a QA Automation Engineer based in China who focuses on product reliability—ensuring BJAK’s AI automation platform consistently behaves correctly, predictably and reliably across all critical user and operational flows.

This is a fully remote position where you'll collaborate closely with our Malaysia-based engineering, product and operations teams to strengthen system reliability through structured testing and automation.

The Mission

Build strong automated testing and validation systems that ensure BJAK’s AI workflow platform remains reliable, consistent and predictable across all critical insurance journeys.

What You’ll Own

  • Build and maintain automated test suites for web, API and workflow-based systems.

  • Design reliability-focused test coverage across insurance workflows including quotes, policy issuance, endorsements, claims and payments.

  • Strengthen end-to-end testing to ensure system behavior is consistent across all user journeys.

  • Identify and validate edge cases, failure paths and system inconsistencies.

  • Improve regression testing coverage to reduce recurring defects in production.

  • Work closely with engineers and product teams to ensure features are reliable before release.

  • Track, document and report bugs with clear reproduction steps and impact on product reliability.

  • Support manual testing where automation coverage is incomplete or evolving.

  • Improve QA processes, testing standards and overall product quality practices.

  • Continuously improve system reliability by reducing production issues through better test design.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in QA automation, test engineering or software quality assurance roles.

  • Strong focus on product reliability, regression testing and system validation.

  • Ability to build automated tests for real-world web and backend workflow systems.

  • Good understanding of API testing, UI testing and end-to-end testing approaches.

  • Strong attention to detail with ability to identify edge cases and inconsistencies.

  • Clear communication when reporting bugs, risks and system behavior issues.

  • Experience working closely with engineers, product and operations teams.

  • Strong ownership mindset toward product quality and system reliability.

  • Practical, structured and disciplined approach to QA work.

  • Comfortable working in fast-moving product environments.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or similar test automation frameworks.

  • Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, RestAssured or similar.

  • Experience with CI/CD-integrated testing pipelines.

  • Experience testing workflow systems, fintech or insurance platforms.

  • Experience improving product reliability in high-growth engineering teams.

  • Understanding of distributed systems or event-driven workflows.

  • Experience with performance or load testing tools.

  • Contributions to QA automation frameworks or reliability tooling.

  • Experience working in AI-driven or automation-heavy products.

The Kind of Builder We Want

  • Deeply detail-oriented with a strong focus on system correctness and consistency.

  • Thinks in terms of user journeys and system reliability, not just individual features.

  • Calm and structured when handling fast-moving product releases.

  • Strong at identifying hidden issues across complex workflows.

  • Focused on improving overall product reliability, not just finding bugs.

  • Proactive in preventing issues through better test design and coverage.

  • Builds confidence in product behavior across all critical flows.

This Role Is Not For

  • People who only perform manual checklist-based testing.

  • Individuals who report bugs without clarity, context or reproducibility.

  • Engineers who avoid automation or structured test design.

  • People who miss edge cases in complex workflows.

  • Candidates who do not take ownership of product reliability outcomes.

Success in This Role

You'll be successful if you can:

  • Improve overall product reliability across core insurance workflows.

  • Reduce production defects and recurring system issues.

  • Strengthen end-to-end and regression test coverage.

  • Detect inconsistencies before they impact customers or operations.

  • Build strong confidence in system behavior across engineering and product teams.
