Cloud Engineer - Automation Infrastructure (Remote, China)
BJAK’s automation systems support end-to-end insurance journeys across quote generation, policy issuance, claims, renewals, payments and insurer integrations. These systems are business-critical, where infrastructure reliability directly impacts customer experience and operational performance.
We're looking for a Cloud Engineer based in China to design, build and maintain the cloud infrastructure that powers BJAK’s AI automation platform, ensuring scalability, security and reliability across all environments.
This is a fully remote position where you'll collaborate closely with our Malaysia-based engineering, product and operations teams to operate and scale production-grade systems.
The Mission
Build and maintain a scalable, secure and reliable cloud infrastructure that powers BJAK’s automation systems, enabling fast delivery of features while ensuring stable and efficient production operations.
What You’ll Own
Design, build and maintain cloud infrastructure supporting BJAK’s automation platform.
Manage cloud environments across development, staging and production.
Build and improve infrastructure-as-code for scalable and repeatable deployments.
Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines for safe, fast and consistent releases.
Improve system observability through monitoring, logging and alerting solutions.
Ensure infrastructure security, including access control, secrets management and network configuration.
Support high-availability systems for business-critical insurance workflows across regions.
Work closely with engineers to improve deployment architecture and reduce operational risk.
Automate infrastructure provisioning, scaling and operational tasks.
Continuously improve system reliability, performance and cost efficiency.
What We're Looking For
Experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, SRE or platform engineering roles.
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation or similar).
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Strong understanding of networking, security and cloud architecture fundamentals.
Ability to troubleshoot production infrastructure issues in a structured and calm manner.
Experience supporting production systems with high availability requirements.
Strong ownership mindset with attention to reliability and operational excellence.
Practical judgment on scalability, security, performance and cost trade-offs.
Bonus Points
Experience building cloud-native infrastructure for high-traffic systems.
Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, etc.).
Experience with multi-region or distributed cloud architectures.
Experience with zero-downtime deployments, blue-green or canary strategies.
Experience with security best practices in cloud environments.
Experience in fintech, insurance or other regulated industries.
Familiarity with service mesh or advanced networking in cloud environments.
Contributions to infrastructure automation or platform engineering projects.
Experience optimizing cloud cost and performance at scale.
The Kind of Builder We Want
Thinks in systems, infrastructure and long-term scalability.
Hands-on engineer who is comfortable deep in cloud and production environments.
Calm and structured during incidents and infrastructure failures.
Strong focus on reliability, security and operational discipline.
Proactive in preventing issues rather than reacting to them.
Careful and deliberate when making production changes.
Builds infrastructure that enables engineers to ship safely and efficiently.
This Role Is Not For
Engineers who only react to infrastructure issues instead of preventing them.
People who are careless with production environments or access control.
Candidates who ignore monitoring, alerting or operational discipline.
Individuals who make risky infrastructure changes without proper analysis.
Engineers who cannot stay calm during incidents or outages.
Success in This Role
You'll be successful if you can:
Build stable, scalable and secure cloud infrastructure for production systems.
Improve deployment speed, safety and consistency across environments.
Reduce infrastructure-related incidents and operational risk.
Strengthen observability, monitoring and system visibility.
Enable engineering teams to deploy and operate systems with confidence.
