Overview
Be part of the AI&DPE team developing new capabilities for MasterCard's Decision Management Platform, which serves as the core for multiple business solutions to combat fraud and validate cardholder identity. Our patented Java-based platform processes billions of transactions per month in tens of milliseconds using a multi-tiered, message-oriented approach for high performance and availability.
We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our DMP team in the Vancouver office.

Role
This role involves working with a team of talented engineers to develop high-performance, low-latency Java-based solutions on the Fraud Management Platform. In this role, you will be responsible for:
• Work closely with technical leads for assigned projects to assist in design and implementation tasks
• Design and implementation of innovative, low-latency, high-performance Java-based capabilities on the Mastercard Fraud Platform.
• Work as part of a co-located Agile Scrum team.
• Define and Lead Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes in the department. Ensure adequate test coverage in Unit Testing, System Testing/Integration Testing and Performance Testing.
• Documents performance test strategies and test plans; translates complex system requirements and specs into test requirements and testing methods.
• Participates in requirements review and performance testing activities; monitors resolutions and retains documentation.
• Identifies and implements complex automation efforts; replicates and resolves production issues for single application
• Defines and implements best practices for end-to-end application performance management solutions; focuses on emerging technologies
• Assists in vendor assessment and evaluates and recommends software development tools
• Manage medium-sized project/initiatives as an individual contributor with advanced knowledge within discipline, leading a segment of several initiatives or a larger initiative and assigns day-to-day work.
• Translates complex system requirements and specs into test requirements and testing methods
• Acts as first-review for project-level reviews, walkthroughs and inspections
• Directs evaluation of manual testing tools for automation opportunities
• Develop high-quality, scalable and secure software solutions.
• Assist with operational issues by troubleshooting incidents.
• Research alternative technical solutions to meet changing business needs.
• Work with project team to meet due dates, while working through emerging issues and recommending solutions.
• Produce design documentation in accordance with Mastercard documentation standards.

• Good knowledge of Agile software development processes.
• Comfortable working in a Linux environment, using VI editor and general command line proficiency
Essential Skills:
• Proficiency with Java JDK 8 or greater.
• Creating and debugging J2EE REST Web Services, gRPC-based service development and Web Applications
• Database experience, including Oracle and SQL scripting
• Experience with Spring Framework (including Spring Boot) and Maven
• Experience writing unit tests with Junit and Mockito
• Experience working with JBoss and/or Apache Tomcat
• Experience with Git

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in Canada, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive pay based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
Pay Ranges
Vancouver, Canada: $127,000 - $203,000 CAD
