About This Role
The National Account Director (NAD) Prime Therapeutics reports to the Head of National and Government Accounts and is tasked with creating and refining strategic operating plans for all segments of the Prime business. This role ensures profitable access to all BIIB products, acting as Biogen’s sole representative. The NAD manages all business and divisional entities aligned to the Prime enterprise, requiring deep knowledge of business models and growth strategies. They must build broad relationships with key executives and seek innovative approaches to advance Biogen’s interests.
Leading extensive internal stakeholder teams, the NAD develops account-focused strategies that optimize product revenue, secure profitable access, maximize outcomes, execute service agreements, and craft customer-focused initiatives. Proactive collaboration with franchise, MA&R and Account Director leadership is expected, along with providing valuable customer insights and ongoing reports on customer engagement, product status, and innovation progress.
What You’ll Do
· Develop and lead Prime Therapeutics account strategy to secure and optimize formulary access, coverage, and reimbursement across Commercial, and Medicare, and Medicaid segments
· Own account enterprise relationships across multiple levels within the Prime organization, ensuring ongoing engagements with key decision makers influencing coverage, utilization management, and contracting decisions.
· Execute contracting strategies, including rebates, administrative fee agreements, value-based contracts, and pull-through initiatives, in alignment with pricing and compliance requirements.
· Collaborate cross-functionally with MA&R, Franchise Leadership, Trade & Distribution, Regional Account, Legal, Medical and Value Access & Optimization teams to ensure coordinated execution of payer strategies.
· Support product launches and lifecycle management, driving early access readiness, formulary positioning, and post-launch optimization across all payer channels.
· Analyze payer performance metrics, including formulary status, utilization trends, contract compliance, and financial outcomes, to inform strategic decision-making.
· Proactive Communication on across Biogen NA on key aspects related to the nation payers, including formulary updates, coverage policies, account trends and business opportunities
· Ensure compliance with government pricing, Medicaid Best Price, Anti-Kickback Statute, and internal policy requirements across all contracting and payer engagements.
· Translate complex payer dynamics—including utilization management, benefit design, and health-economic evidence—into actionable strategies for internal stakeholders.
· Represent the organization externally at national payer meetings, negotiations, and industry forums, reinforcing the company’s value proposition and partnership approach.
Who You Are
The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of Prime organization translating to the development and execution of a detailed account strategy aligned to key business goals. In addition, demonstrated a history of successful account management with national payer experience specific to stakeholder networking, formulary strategy, and reimbursement dynamics. They bring a proven track record of building and sustaining deep relationships while driving measurable improvements in access and revenue performance. This individual combine strong strategic thinking with disciplined execution, navigating complex pricing, compliance, and government program requirements with confidence. Highly collaborative and influential, the candidate effectively aligns cross-functional stakeholders and translates payer insights into actionable business strategies that support product launches, lifecycle management, and long-term portfolio growth.
Required Skills
· Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s level or above degree preferred
· 10+ years of experience in U.S. market access, payer marketing, pricing, or related fields within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry,
· Work experience at Prime Therapeutics is preferred
· Proven excellence in account management, relationship development and stakeholder networking specific to Anthem or relative national payer
· Deep business analytic skills assessing marketplace trends as the foundation of account strategy development
· Strong knowledge of payer landscape, policy trends, and competitive trends impacting Biogen’s portfolio.
· Exceptional leadership and cross-functional team management skills.
· Strategic mindset with strong analytical and communication capabilities.
· Ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of ownership and accountability.
· Driving is an essential duty of the job; candidates must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record according to Biogen policy to be considered
· 50% travel

Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
