The Role and Impact
As a SoC Functional Validation Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the quality and performance of Intel's cutting-edge System-on-Chip (SoC) products. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams like architecture, design, and manufacturing, you will drive the development and execution of innovative validation methodologies to ensure silicon readiness. Your work will directly contribute to optimizing system-level features, resolving critical functional issues, and delivering high-quality products that uphold Intel's industry leadership. Key Responsibilities
- Define, develop, and execute functional validation methodologies for integrated SoCs, focusing on IP integration, system-level features, and inter-IP interactions.
- Conduct silicon debug to identify root causes and resolve functional and triage failures for SoC issues.
- Test interactions between various SoC features using advanced validation infrastructure and tools.
- Develop post-silicon validation infrastructure, including performance monitors, behavioral checkers, state space coverage, and test environments.
- Collaborate with architecture, design, verification, board, platform, and manufacturing teams to refine validation strategies and methodologies.
- Publish comprehensive SoC validation reports summarizing results and communicate findings to relevant teams.
- Review design changes to assess impacts on validation plans, tasks, and timelines.
- Create and enhance content to improve specific IP interactions using tools such as firmware modifications, microcode patches, and custom OS builds.
- Engage in all phases of the product life cycle, utilizing diverse environments such as simulation, emulation, and FPGAs to ensure silicon readiness.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in post-silicon validation with a Bachelor's degree, 2+ years with a Master's degree, or 0 years with a PhD.
- Proficiency in using FPGA, emulation, and prototyping tools for pre-silicon and post-silicon validation processes.
- Technical expertise in domains such as Graphics, Display, PCIe, Memory, Security, Power Management, SoC interfaces, and HW/SW integration.
- Experience in system-level testing and debugging using lab equipment and validation tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Passion for tools development, architectural analysis, and advanced debugging techniques.
- Proven ability to drive innovation in ambiguous environments, transforming concepts into clearly defined solutions.
- Familiarity with chipset testing and high-volume manufacturing processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to create integrated, multidisciplinary solutions.
- Advanced knowledge of post-silicon validation methodologies and infrastructure.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, fostering effective collaboration across organizational boundaries.
