Demand Planning Manager (m/f/d) - fixed-term contract

LEGO · Munich

Job Description

Are you ready to join a high-performing Operations team and take ownership of demand decisions that shape business performance, influence senior colleagues, and ensure our products are available when it matters most?

Own and shape BU-level demand decisions by aligning one clear, powerful plan—driving commercial success, availability, and the right balance between ambition, inventory, and reality.

Please note: This position will be based in our LEGO® Sales Office in Grasbrunn and will follow a hybrid working model with 3 days in the office and up to 2 days remotely. Relocation support is not offered.

This is a fixed-term contract until end of December 2027.

Core Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end Demand Plan for a significant share of the Business Unit, covering both Consumer Sales (CS – sales to consumers, based on retail sell-out data) and Selling-In (SI – sales to retail partners) at theme, customer group, and SKU level.

  • Shape BU-level CS and SI decisions by balancing commercial ambitions with supply chain constraints, inventory health, and financial implications.

  • Define, challenge, and align demand assumptions with Sales and Brand Management, ensuring plans reflect commercial activities, product launches, and promotional strategies.

  • Act as a trusted sparring partner to Sales and Marketing, evaluating the impact of commercial investments and translating ambitions into realistic, data-driven demand plans.

  • Lead Demand Planning inputs into the BU S&OP process, including ownership of key topics such as Risks & Opportunities, Gap/Confidence to Target, and demand-supply alignment.

  • Drive alignment between BU and Market Group demand planning teams, ensuring top-down strategies are grounded in market realities while clearly articulating BU-specific assumptions across the planning horizon.

  • Represent Demand Planning in key cross-functional forums, shaping plans for critical campaigns and driving alignment on priorities and trade-offs.

  • Lead and contribute to cross-departmental projects that enhance operational efficiency within the BU.

  • Monitor and steer forecast performance (topline, theme, and item level), proactively identifying risks and adjusting plans to ensure strong in-stock levels while minimizing excess inventory and waste.

  • Build and continuously improve demand planning capabilities, including tools, analytics, and ways of working, driving digitalization, process and collaboration excellence.

  • Act as the subject-matter expert for demand planning within the BU, elevating planning standards, governance, and decision-making across the function.

Play your part in our team succeeding!

Europe Central (EUC) BU Operations enables best-in-class commercial and supply chain execution across the DACH market — one of the LEGO Group’s largest and most strategic regions. The team provides the operational backbone for Sales and Marketing, covering planning, inventory, customer service, and logistics. As Demand Planning Manager, you will shape the BU demand plan, aligning Sales and Marketing into one clear, data-driven view that drives critical commercial and supply chain decisions. Your work ensures the business commits to the right volumes at the right time.

You will act as a trusted sparring partner to Sales and Marketing, challenging assumptions and translating ambitions into realistic, actionable plans. Sitting at the intersection of commercial, supply chain, and finance, you will balance growth ambitions with operational feasibility and inventory health.

The plans you shape directly guide supply chain execution—ensuring strong product availability for consumers while avoiding excess inventory and unnecessary cost. Success in this role is measured through forecast accuracy (topline, theme, and item level) and in-stock performance, ensuring the right balance between availability, inventory health, and waste reduction. This is a high-impact role with direct influence on commercial performance, customer satisfaction, and the LEGO Group’s success in the market.

Do you have what it takes

  • Proven experience owning and delivering demand planning, supply planning, or advanced analytics within a multinational FMCG, retail, or consumer goods organization; experience with complex commercial data (e.g., Finance, Sales or Marketing analytics) is also highly valued.

  • Strong understanding of S&OP processes and demand drivers, with the ability to translate Consumer Sales (CS), Selling-In (SI), and inventory dynamics into clear business decisions and outcomes.

  • Strong collaborator management and executive presence; acts as a decisive sparring partner to Sales and Marketing, confidently influencing and constructively challenging decisions.

  • Excellent storytelling and communication skills — able to drive alignment and decision-making through clear, structured narratives across diverse colleagues.

  • Strong analytical and strategic capability; able to synthesize complex datasets, challenge assumptions, and own the development of robust, actionable demand plans.

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity, prioritize effectively, and take accountability for sound business decisions in fast-paced and volatile environments.

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration mentality, able to lead alignment and drive outcomes across commercial and supply chain teams in a matrixed organization.

  • Experience owning or leading cross-functional improvement and digital transformation projects within planning or analytics environments.

  • Passion for data and digital tools; advanced proficiency in Excel (including VBA and Power Query) and Power BI, with a focus on driving automation and enabling better decision-making.

  • Dedicated, resilient, and adaptable; takes ownership of results, proactively improves processes, and confidently challenges the status quo in line with LEGO Group leadership behaviors.

  • Fluent in English (written and verbal); German is advantageous.
