This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Field Technician based in United States.
This role sits at the core of critical telecommunications infrastructure, ensuring the reliability, performance, and continuity of high-capacity fiber and transport networks that support modern digital connectivity. You will work on both legacy and next-generation systems, supporting installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting across complex network environments. Operating independently in the field, you will handle a mix of technical execution, problem-solving, and infrastructure oversight in varied and sometimes challenging outdoor and facility conditions. The position requires strong technical depth across transport, Ethernet, and IP technologies, along with hands-on work on outside plant and customer-premise equipment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams while also taking ownership of field operations, sometimes acting as a lead on assigned work. This is a high-responsibility role where precision, safety, and reliability directly impact network performance at scale.
Accountabilities:
- Perform installation, configuration, testing, maintenance, and decommissioning of transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network equipment across multiple service types.
- Troubleshoot network and transport systems, identify faults, replace defective components, and restore service while ensuring network integrity.
- Conduct fiber optic testing, outside plant inspections, and underground cable locating to ensure infrastructure accuracy and protection.
- Install and maintain customer-premise equipment (CPE), including CSU/DSU and related connectivity hardware.
- Support DC and limited AC power installations, including work on critical infrastructure systems such as HVAC and power plants.
- Manage asset tracking, materials replenishment, tools, and test equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Participate in preventive maintenance, inspections, and monitoring activities to ensure system reliability and uptime.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in telecommunications, field operations, or data center environments with strong technical expertise.
- Deep knowledge of telecom technologies including DS0, DS1, DS3, SONET/SDH, Ethernet, IP networking, SS7, and routing protocols.
- Hands-on experience with fiber optic systems, transport equipment, and outside plant infrastructure.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network and hardware issues in the field.
- Experience working with critical infrastructure systems such as DC power plants, HVAC, and high-voltage environments.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to operate in field conditions and outdoor environments.
- Ability to work on-call, overtime, and rotational schedules, including emergency response situations.
- Strong attention to safety protocols, documentation, and operational procedures.
Benefits:
- Competitive salary based on experience and geographic location
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
- Life, disability, and additional voluntary insurance options
- Retirement savings plan with employer contributions
- Paid time off and holiday programs
- Flexible work arrangements depending on operational needs
- Training and development opportunities in advanced telecom technologies
- Exposure to large-scale, mission-critical network infrastructure
