HVAC-R Service Technician
A long-established commercial mechanical contractor is hiring experienced Commercial HVAC-R Service Technicians for field service work across Hampton Roads.
This is a full-time W2 role focused on commercial HVAC and refrigeration troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance. The company needs technicians who can diagnose equipment issues, not just install systems.
Why this role is open
The company is expanding its field service team due to steady year-round commercial service demand. This is not a seasonal residential role.
What you will do
- Diagnose and repair commercial HVAC or refrigeration systems.
- Service equipment such as rooftop units, air handlers, chillers, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and related systems.
- Work in commercial, industrial, medical, light commercial, property management, and food service environments.
- Communicate with dispatch and service managers using phone-based updates.
- Complete service documentation accurately.
- Participate in weekend on-call rotation.
- Travel throughout Hampton Roads, with some longer-distance customer work as needed.
What we are looking for
- At least 2 years of HVAC or refrigeration service experience.
- Real troubleshooting and diagnostic ability.
- Commercial experience preferred.
- Residential technicians may be considered if they have strong service skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass drug testing and driving record review.
- Willingness to work approximately 45 or more hours per week.
- Comfort with rotating weekend on-call.
Compensation and benefits
- $22.00 to $32.00+ per hour, depending on experience.
- Upper $30.00 per hour range may be considered for highly experienced or master-level candidates.
