Job Summary:
The Risk Assurance Services (RAS) team at PwC takes pride in helping clients to identify, measure and manage their risk profile more effectively. Our specialists offer knowledge and expertise, which extends to clients’ internal controls, internal audit, technology risk, cyber security, non-financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Our Data Assurance specialists focus on providing data analytics and information risk management assurance services supporting external financial statement audit engagements. Our capabilities support a wide range of businesses and industry sectors, across the Channel Islands with a focus on Financial Services.
As a member of the RAS, Data Assurance practice you will work within an assurance team structure as part of a multi-functional engagement team, interacting directly with clients. You will also have excellent opportunities to be involved in strategic initiatives and provide input into shaping the future direction of the practice.
Responsibilities:
The Risk Assurance Services (RAS), Data Assurance team in the Channel Islands have exciting opportunities in Jersey and Guernsey for experienced individuals to join our team.
As a credible candidate you will have developed core skills in a wide range of data transformation and analysis practices, with a strong background in both consulting and audit and an understanding of how to responsibly apply AI tools and technologies as part of your work. You will have developed skills in specialised data transformation and visualisation tools and applied these to the evaluation of accounting, financial and wider issues whilst working as part of a high performing team.
You will need to be capable of applying these core skills in a variety of business situations to maximise the client value and impact over Digital Audit, Controls Assurance and Data Assurance engagements.
Responsibilities include:
Participating in a Data Assurance team as a Lead Senior, supporting external FS audit teams in the delivery of external financial statement audit engagements
Completing planning procedures and client walkthroughs relating to the understanding of the IT environment, associated systems, reports and databases.
Designing and developing data analytical procedures to support efficient and effective audit testing.
Documenting the use of data analytical procedures to appropriate standards required for audit procedures.
Using leading digital assets and related tooling to complete testing.
Using data analysis techniques to support the assessment of the design, implementations and operating effectiveness of IT General Controls, application controls and related dependencies including the testing of key reports and interfaces
Undertaking project management activities to support the effective delivery of Data Assurance engagements to agreed time and budget.
Fostering the adoption and use of technology in alignment with business rules within the Risk Assurance team, including the adoption and use of AI.
Helping to train and upskill staff members in the latest tools as coaching them as part of wider client engagements
Building relationships both internally within the PwC network and externally with senior client management teams on ongoing engagements
On-going development of in-depth industry experience and process expertise

Qualifications & Certifications:
Strong academic background such as a Bachelor or Master’s Degree in a subject related to Accounting, Information Technology or Business Studies
Formal accounting qualification, or part qualification with a desire to focus on Data and a future Data Science / Data Engineering qualification.
Data Science / Data Engineering BSc or equivalent
Technology Risk supporting qualification (e.g. ITIL, COBIT, CRISC, ISO22301, CBCI, ISO27001 LA, ISO22301 LA)
Skills & Experience Required:
Essential skills:
Experience of internal or external audit and assurance engagements as a data assurance specialist
Excellent project management skills including great organisation, highly motivated work ethic, the ability to drive projects forward, managing own and others time; and hold more senior team members accountable to delivering high quality pieces of work
Strong team working skills and experienced in developing junior staff
Well-developed listening and questioning techniques
Strong desire for personal continuous improvement
Following formal methodologies and applying risk and quality standards
Excellent verbal skills and report writing capability
Ability to work autonomously without the need for day-to-day direct management
Proficient relationship builder
Accounting Path: Data assurance and accounting experience including planning, delivering and reviewing a diverse range of engagements and reviews (data focused), coupled with experience in evaluating and performing risk assessments at a task and organisational level
Understanding of accounting and financial information systems and typical data structures and end-to-end processes
Data Science Path: Technical data science and/or engineering experience with associated understanding of IT infrastructure, database design and knowledge of data analytical techniques, coupled with experience in evaluating IT risks and leveraging data to perform tests of IT and system driven controls
Understanding of accounting and financial information systems and typical data structures and end-to-end processes
Desirable skills:
Knowledge of the Financial Services sector and familiarity with the local Channel Islands market
Experience in providing specialist support to external FS audit teams
Project management certification (e.g. PRINCE2, or Agile)
Data and analytics experience with competency with tools including Alteryx, SQL, Python, PowerBI and Power Platform.
Cyber Security / Privacy engagement experience, with a relevant supporting qualification (e.g. CISM, CISSP, GIAC)
Artificial Intelligence tooling experience and familiarity with using agentic technology to support procedures including Claude and ChatGPT.
Technology Risk engagement experience, with relevant supporting qualification (e.g. ITIL, COBIT, CRISC, ISO22301, CBCI, ISO27001 LA, ISO22301 LA)
Experience of performing internal audit engagements, with a relevant supporting qualification (CIA)
Travel Requirements:
Limited travel will be required in this role; this will be project dependent.
