This role sits within a dynamic assurance practice supporting a diverse portfolio of US-based clients across industries such as technology, financial services, life sciences, and consumer products. You will play a key role in leading audit engagements from planning through completion, ensuring high-quality delivery, regulatory compliance, and meaningful client outcomes. The position combines hands-on technical audit execution with team leadership responsibilities, including supervising junior staff and guiding day-to-day engagement activities. You will work closely with senior leadership and clients to resolve complex accounting issues, apply US GAAP standards, and strengthen audit strategies. Accountabilities:
- Lead the planning, execution, and completion of multiple audit and assurance engagements for US-based clients across diverse industries.
- Supervise and delegate work to junior team members while ensuring quality and timely completion of engagement tasks.
- Develop and execute audit strategies from planning through reporting in alignment with professional standards.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve complex audit issues with engagement managers and client stakeholders.
- Apply advanced knowledge of US GAAP, auditing standards, and regulatory frameworks in complex engagements.
- Prepare and review financial statements, audit findings, and client deliverables in both written and verbal formats.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to enhance trust, satisfaction, and long-term engagement success.
- Conduct technical accounting research and provide guidance on complex financial reporting matters.
- Mentor, coach, and support junior professionals through feedback, training, and career development support.
- Collaborate across teams to manage multi-jurisdictional audit requirements and high-complexity client environments.
- CPA designation or working toward CPA certification preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of public accounting or external audit experience across multiple industries.
- Experience auditing complex accounting areas such as revenue, inventory, equity, and stock-based compensation.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and auditing standards, with exposure to US-focused engagements preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience within audit teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with client-facing experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize, manage multiple engagements, and work in fast-paced environments.
- Strong desire for continuous learning and professional development.
- Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable audit insights and recommendations.
- Competitive salary range: CAD 94,000 – 115,000 annually (Ontario benchmark; may vary by profile and location).
