This is a senior leadership role at the core of a high-performing accounting organization, responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of revenue recognition and financial reporting. You will own end-to-end revenue accounting operations while serving as the primary subject matter expert on ASC 606 and related GAAP standards. The role combines hands-on technical accounting expertise with strategic oversight of SEC reporting and disclosure processes. You will lead a team responsible for revenue close activities, policy enforcement, and continuous process improvement across the order-to-cash cycle. Acting as a key advisor to cross-functional stakeholders, you will influence deal structures, contract design, and financial decision-making. This position also plays a critical role in external reporting, audit coordination, and investor-facing disclosures. Accountabilities:

  • Lead and own the end-to-end revenue accounting close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, deferred revenue, SOX controls, and variance analysis.
  • Serve as the primary expert on ASC 606, providing guidance on complex revenue recognition issues, contract reviews, and deal structuring across the organization.
  • Review customer contracts and amendments, preparing technical accounting memos and ensuring appropriate revenue treatment under GAAP.
  • Oversee the accuracy of deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, cost of sales, and allowance for credit losses in compliance with ASC 326.
  • Manage and develop the revenue accounting team, providing leadership, coaching, performance management, and career development support.
  • Lead SEC reporting processes, including preparation and filing of 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, financial statements, disclosures, and XBRL tagging.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, Investor Relations, Legal, and executive leadership on audits, earnings releases, and financial disclosures.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, monitor regulatory changes, and lead technical accounting research and documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across revenue recognition, financial reporting, and internal controls (SOX compliance).
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • 8+ years of experience in public accounting and/or revenue and financial reporting within a public company environment.
    • Strong expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition and US GAAP standards.
    • Deep knowledge of SEC reporting requirements, including filings, disclosures, and financial statement preparation.
    • CPA certification required, with Big Four public accounting experience strongly preferred.
    • Proven experience managing and developing accounting teams in high-performance environments.
    • Strong technical writing skills for accounting memos, policy documentation, and regulatory reporting.
    • Experience with SEC reporting tools such as Workiva and familiarity with ERP systems like NetSuite (preferred).
    • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at executive level.
