Sr. Data Engineer
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Data Engineer based in India.
This role sits at the core of building scalable, cloud-based data ecosystems that power advanced analytics and business decision-making. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing end-to-end data pipelines that ensure reliable, high-quality data across enterprise systems. The position involves working with modern cloud platforms and data architectures to support efficient storage, transformation, and retrieval of large-scale datasets. You will collaborate closely with data architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams to deliver robust and future-ready data solutions. The role also includes technical leadership responsibilities, including guiding engineering practices and contributing to team delivery standards. Accountabilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud-based data solutions supporting enterprise analytics needs.
- Develop and optimize data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data into data warehouses and data lakes.
- Ensure data quality, validation, and governance processes are implemented to guarantee accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
- Optimize data storage and retrieval performance across large-scale distributed systems and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with data architects, modelers, product owners, and engineering teams to deliver robust data solutions aligned with business needs.
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers (internal and external resources), ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
- Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, data engineering practices, and industry best standards to continuously improve solutions.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or related roles in cloud-based environments.
- Strong proficiency in Python and advanced SQL (including PL/SQL, stored procedures, and database routines).
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as BigQuery, GCS, Cloud Functions/Run, and GKE.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, including star schema, fact and dimension modeling, and SCD types.
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools and frameworks such as DBT, Databricks, AecorSoft, or SAP Datasphere.
- Familiarity with data orchestration tools such as Airflow (Composer) or Automic.
- Solid understanding of modern data architectures, including Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum layers).
- Experience with data modeling tools such as Erwin is a plus.
- Exposure to BI/visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is an added advantage.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with ability to guide technical teams.
