Job Description:
Analyzes and designs sequence of operations and work flow to improve efficiencies in plant and production facilities and equipment layouts; and establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel. May establish or assist in establishing accident prevention measures and may manage training programs for personnel concerning all phases of production operations. Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems. On the basis of these studies, develops and implements plans and programs for facility modifications and revisions to operating methods. May assist facilities engineers in the planning and design of facilities. Quickly perform simulations and what if's analysis to forecast site/program requirements. Provides technical leadership, direction and mentoring to other technical employees in the application of scientific principles, tools and techniques to achieve practical end results. Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product that has a direct impact on the sector. Contributes to priority initiatives critical to achievement of AOP and LRSP objectives. Serves as a mentor.
What You'll get to Do:
Strategic planning
Develop and deploy plans that ensure the timely availability and effective utilization of labor, facilities, equipment, & tooling resources enabling the achievement of program delivery and cost milestones.
Develop and summarize analyses for the acquisition, maintenance & enhancement of capital assets and miscellaneous equipment. Plans plant, office, and production facilities and equipment layouts
Perform manufacturing simulations
Helps determine the most efficient sequence of operations and work flow and provides finite scheduling to manufacturing cost centers and IPTs
Maintain datasets and generate metrics that provide for the measurement of program & functional schedule & cost performance.
Provides capacity planning and rate tool analyses
Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction and inventory control
Basic Qualifications for the Consulting Manufacturing Engineer:
A Bachelor's degree in a related STEM discipline with a minimum of 14 years of relevant work experience in engineering and/or manufacturing; OR a Master's degree in a related STEM discipline with 12 or more years of relevant work experience in engineering and/or manufacturing, OR a PhD in a related STEM discipline with 10 or more years of relevant work experience in engineering and/or manufacturing.
Experience with Strategic planning
Experience in continuous improvement
Experience in technical writing
Experience interfacing/communicating with multiple levels of leadership, clients, and vendors
Proficiency in MS Project, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel
Ability to obtain a US Government Secret Clearance
US Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Aerospace or Ship Building
