Track industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously modernize the practice.

  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the organization's subject matter expert for the assigned practice area. Provide technical guidance on complex operational and reliability challenges. Lead technical evaluations, pilots, and proof-of-concepts. Develop reusable patterns, playbooks, and implementation guides.

  • Capability Development: Design and deliver capability-building initiatives across engineering teams. Create training materials, workshops, and communities of practice. Mentor engineers and technical leaders in adopting operational excellence practices. Define competency expectations and skills development pathways.

  • Adoption and Transformation: Partner with engineering teams to drive adoption of standards and best practices. Facilitate improvement initiatives across multiple domains and business units. Identify opportunities to reduce operational toil and improve engineering productivity. Measure and report adoption and effectiveness of practice initiatives.

  • Strategic Initiatives: Lead cross-functional programs that improve reliability, resiliency, and operational maturity. Partner with product, platform, security, and infrastructure teams to deliver organization-wide outcomes. Contribute to long-term operational modernization efforts including automation, resilience engineering, and AI-assisted operations.

What Success Looks Like

  • Deliver measurable improvements in reliability and service availability, operational efficiency, reduction of manual toil, incident response effectiveness, observability, engineering productivity, operational maturity, and adoption of standard operating practices.

  • Influences hundreds of engineers across multiple teams. Operations engineering standards and practices adopted organization-wide. Leads strategic operational excellence initiatives. Shapes the future direction of Operations Engineering capabilities.
