OpenShift Platform Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an OpenShift Platform Engineer based in the United States.

This role focuses on designing, deploying, and operating enterprise-grade Red Hat OpenShift environments that support mission-critical applications.
You will work across on-premises and cloud infrastructures to build scalable, secure, and highly available container platforms.
The position plays a key role in enabling developer productivity through self-service, automation, and modern CI/CD practices.
You will be responsible for ensuring platform reliability, performance, and security in collaboration with infrastructure, DevOps, and security teams.
The environment is highly technical and collaborative, with strong emphasis on automation, GitOps, and cloud-native engineering principles.
This is a long-term opportunity to influence platform architecture while continuously improving operational maturity and developer experience.

Accountabilities

  • Architect, deploy, and manage Red Hat OpenShift clusters across on-prem and cloud environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security best practices.
  • Design multi-tenant platform structures including RBAC, network policies, quotas, and workload isolation strategies.
  • Automate cluster lifecycle operations such as provisioning, upgrades, scaling, and decommissioning using GitOps and infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Enable application teams through self-service onboarding, CI/CD integration, reusable templates, and platform documentation.
  • Manage OpenShift networking, storage, observability, and security integrations across enterprise environments.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, tracing, and compliance controls using modern observability and security tooling.
  • Support disaster recovery planning, cluster upgrades, and continuous platform optimization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve performance, cost efficiency, and developer experience across the platform.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
    • 5+ years of experience in container platform operations, including 3+ years working with Red Hat OpenShift.
    • Strong expertise in Kubernetes/OpenShift internals (operators, CRDs, networking, RBAC, etc.).
    • Solid Linux administration skills including networking, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
    • Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Helm.
    • Experience building CI/CD pipelines using tools like Tekton, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Argo CD.
    • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Go.
    • Strong understanding of observability tools (monitoring, logging, tracing) in distributed systems.
    • Knowledge of container security, image scanning, and supply chain hardening practices.
    • Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
    • Preferred: Red Hat certification, cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP), and exposure to service mesh technologies.
