Senior Engineering Manager, Database

• Lead, mentor, and grow multiple globally distributed engineering teams focused on database technologies and core platform capabilities.
• Define execution priorities and collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders to develop realistic technical roadmaps that balance innovation, quality, and long-term maintainability.
• Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and customer-focused database solutions.
• Support hiring, performance management, career development, and team engagement while fostering an inclusive, high-performance engineering culture.
• Contribute to technical discussions and architectural decisions, remaining closely connected to engineering challenges and system design.
• Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to resolve complex technical issues and translate customer feedback into product improvements.
• Promote engineering excellence through strong execution, accountability, collaboration, and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional engineering experience, including at least 4 years leading software engineering teams.
• Proven success building, managing, and mentoring high-performing engineering organizations delivering complex systems software.
• Strong technical expertise in distributed systems, databases, or large-scale infrastructure platforms.
• Experience with C or C++ in large production codebases is highly valued; familiarity with PostgreSQL internals is a strong advantage.
• Solid understanding of SQL, database engines, query processing, concurrency, replication, and distributed computing concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to balance technical leadership with people management in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a passion for developing both technology and people.
