Senior Engineering Manager - Security Engineering

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for building and scaling a centralized security engineering function that underpins trust across a modern cloud platform. You will lead teams working on foundational security capabilities such as identity and access management, encryption, secure networking, and multi-tenant isolation. Operating at the intersection of security, platform, and product engineering, you will define how security features are built, delivered, and scaled across multiple product lines. The role combines deep technical leadership with organizational design, requiring someone who can create structure in fast-moving, distributed environments. You will partner closely with product security, compliance, and engineering leadership to align on risk, architecture, and delivery priorities. This is a builder role where your impact will be visible in system resilience, customer trust, and engineering velocity.
Accountabilities:
In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and leading a new centralized Security Engineering organization, defining its operating model, and scaling it over time. You will own end-to-end delivery of security engineering initiatives across core platform areas including identity, encryption, authentication, sandboxing, and network security. You will set roadmap direction, prioritize initiatives based on risk and business impact, and ensure clear execution tracking across teams.
- Build and scale a centralized security engineering function, starting from an existing team and expanding through strategic hiring
- Define operating models, delivery frameworks, and tracking systems for security engineering across multiple product lines
- Lead the design and implementation of critical security capabilities across cloud and platform services
- Drive cross-functional execution with product, infrastructure, and security stakeholders to ensure alignment and delivery clarity
- Establish engineering standards, accountability mechanisms, and a strong culture of security-first execution
- Partner with security, GRC, and compliance teams to ensure engineering outputs meet regulatory and audit requirements
- Serve as the primary owner of security engineering delivery commitments and roadmap execution
- 8+ years of engineering leadership experience, including building and scaling software or security engineering teams
- Strong background in security engineering, with hands-on understanding of system design, architecture, and implementation tradeoffs
- Experience delivering security features such as IAM, encryption, network security, or secure multi-tenancy in SaaS or cloud environments
- Deep familiarity with distributed systems, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and modern infrastructure practices
- Demonstrated ability to build new functions or organizations from the ground up, including hiring, structuring, and operational design
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to influence product, engineering, and security leadership without formal authority
