JOB SUMMARY
This position is accountable for directing and controlling the end-to-end internal and external financial reporting processes for the company. Internal financial reporting processes require this position to have an ability to understand the reporting needs of the company and design, develop, and implement insightful internal reports that drive executive decision-making. External financial reporting responsibilities include the management and preparation of the company's annual audited consolidated financial statements and coordination of the related external financial statement audit. Serving as the company’s subject matter expert on complex transactions, this position requires a high-level of competency of technical accounting under US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), exceptional financial systems fluency, and communications skills necessary to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a GAAP expert. Initiate research efforts on GAAP/technical accounting matters, including implementation of new standards and application of GAAP principles to unusual or infrequent transactions, determine the impact to the Company and develop and propose to management recommended solutions.
Oversee the coordination of the annual financial statement audit with external auditors and various internal teammates. Prepare annual audited consolidated financial statements and related audit reports.
Design, prepare and distribute period and quarterly internal financial reporting packages.
Prepare executive and board-level financial information and presentation materials.
Prepare routine financial planning, analysis and forecasting functions for areas of accountability, as applicable. Oversee, analyze and consolidate financial forecast updates on a biweekly basis.
Prepare and/or review account reconciliations, as applicable.
Analyze and provide explanations for certain income statement line items on a period/quarterly basis and complete various closing responsibilities.
Serve as the company’s expert on the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) modules, particularly as it relates to consolidation responsibilities. Coordinate with internal users and implement new features within the EPM modules. In addition to maintaining current functionality and ensuring overall compliance related to period account reconciliations, also leverage reporting tools to automate reporting processes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting required, with Masters in Accountancy or MBA preferred.
Other Requirements: Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Years of Experience: 5 to 8 years
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge
Extensive knowledge about GAAP and the ability to research and reach well-reasoned conclusions on technical accounting matters.
Working knowledge of routine and non-routine accounting processes and the requirements for recording transactions in accordance with GAAP and in a manner that creates/maintains an effective internal control environment.
Technology proficiency in use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
Experience with financial Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and business intelligence (BI) tools. Oracle Fusion and/or Oracle EPM knowledge is a plus.
