This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Claims Representative 2-Crop based in the United States.
This role focuses on managing and resolving crop insurance claims through detailed field investigations, damage assessments, and policy interpretation. You will serve as a key point of contact for insured farmers, guiding them through the claims process with clarity and responsiveness. The position combines fieldwork and analytical evaluation, requiring accurate inspections of crop conditions and losses. You will determine coverage, establish liability, and calculate fair settlements in accordance with policy guidelines. Working across assigned territories, including agricultural regions such as Greene County, Illinois, United States and Macoupin County, Illinois, United States, you will play a direct role in supporting rural communities and agricultural resilience. The environment is field-oriented, independent, and highly service-driven, with strong emphasis on accuracy, integrity, and customer communication.
Accountabilities
- Investigate and adjust crop insurance claims by reviewing policy coverage, determining liability, evaluating damages, and negotiating fair settlements in accordance with guidelines.
- Conduct physical field inspections of crops to assess loss conditions, prepare detailed written estimates, and document findings accurately.
- Initiate and maintain communication with insured clients and relevant stakeholders to collect information, explain claim procedures, and ensure clear expectations throughout the process.
- Coordinate with appraisal resources and internal teams to support accurate claim evaluation and resolution.
- Ensure all claim files are properly documented, compliant, and completed within required timelines and standards.
Requirements
- Typically 4+ years of relevant experience in claims adjustment, insurance, agriculture, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Strong understanding of insurance principles, ideally with exposure to crop or property claims handling.
- Ability to conduct field inspections, evaluate physical damage, and translate findings into structured claim assessments.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with policyholders, explain processes clearly, and manage sensitive conversations professionally.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and decision-making abilities under field conditions.
- Must be based within or able to operate in Greene and Macoupin counties, Illinois.
