This role is a key leadership position within a national credit function, responsible for safeguarding financial performance while enabling sustainable sales growth across a large, multi-region portfolio. You will evaluate customer creditworthiness, guide credit decisions, and ensure disciplined collections practices across accounts in the agricultural and turf & horticulture sectors. The position requires balancing commercial support with financial risk management, ensuring policies are consistently applied while adapting to evolving market conditions. You will oversee regional credit analysts and act as a strategic partner to sales and finance teams, influencing credit policy and operational improvements. This is a highly cross-functional role with national scope, combining analytical rigor, leadership, and strong stakeholder engagement across the U.S. Midwest and beyond.

Accountabilities:

  • Evaluate the financial strength and creditworthiness of new and existing customers to determine appropriate credit limits, financing terms, and risk exposure.
  • Develop, implement, and manage effective collections strategies to ensure timely recovery of receivables and adherence to credit policies.
  • Oversee and guide the collections process, including follow-ups on overdue accounts, negotiation of payment plans, and escalation to external agencies when necessary.
  • Lead and support a regional team of credit analysts, ensuring consistent execution of credit processes and development of team capabilities.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve credit policies, procedures, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to interpret and communicate credit information supporting business and sales decisions.
  • Monitor agricultural market trends and industry conditions to inform credit decision-making and portfolio risk assessment.
  • Ensure full compliance with established credit policies while supporting business growth objectives.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in credit management, financial services, or accounts receivable leadership roles.
    • Strong understanding of credit risk assessment, financial analysis, and collections management.
    • Experience working with commercial or agricultural customers is preferred, particularly in turf, horticulture, or related industries.
    • Proven leadership experience managing or mentoring credit analysts or similar financial teams.
    • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to balance risk and business growth.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for managing both internal stakeholders and external customers.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities across a geographically dispersed, national scope.
