This role is dedicated to supporting employees through complex leave of absence, workers’ compensation, and workplace accommodation cases while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and organizational policies. You will act as a central point of coordination between employees, managers, healthcare providers, and third-party administrators to ensure each case is managed with accuracy, empathy, and efficiency. The position requires strong case management skills and the ability to navigate sensitive employee situations while maintaining compliance and documentation standards. You will monitor active cases, guide stakeholders through processes, and help ensure smooth transitions for employees before, during, and after a leave event. The environment is fast-paced, detail-oriented, and highly collaborative, requiring both independence and strong cross-functional coordination. This is a meaningful role that directly supports employee well-being and operational continuity across the organization.

Accountabilities

  • Manage end-to-end leave of absence, workers’ compensation, and accommodation cases, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and internal policies while coordinating with third-party administrators and internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employees and managers regarding absence-related inquiries, providing guidance, updates, and education throughout the leave lifecycle.
  • Track, monitor, and maintain accurate case documentation, ensuring timely updates, reporting, and compliance with required regulations and internal standards.
  • Coordinate with HR, payroll, legal, safety, and benefits teams to ensure proper handling of leave events, wage replacement, and return-to-work processes.
  • Educate managers and employees on leave procedures, workplace policies, and return-to-work planning to ensure clarity and consistency.
  • Identify potential issues or barriers in case progression and proactively implement solutions to support smooth resolution.
  • Generate reports, conduct audits, and analyze leave trends to support operational oversight and continuous improvement.
  • Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience required.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in HR, absence management, workers’ compensation, or related case management roles.
    • Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, PFML, and other state or federal leave regulations strongly preferred.
    • Experience working with HR systems such as Kronos and Workday is preferred.
    • Strong understanding of workplace absence policies, disability management, and compliance requirements.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong sense of empathy, patience, and customer service orientation.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking abilities in a high-volume environment.
    • Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and data entry systems.
