Ocular Specialty Representative

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Ocular Specialty Representative based in the United States.

This field-based commercial role focuses on driving growth and expanding market share within the ophthalmology and optometry space across a defined territory. The position plays a key role in promoting a specialized portfolio of eye health products to healthcare professionals, combining clinical knowledge with strategic sales execution. You will build strong relationships with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other key stakeholders to influence prescribing behavior and improve patient outcomes. The role requires strong territory management, analytical planning, and the ability to translate market insights into actionable sales strategies. Working closely with regional leadership and internal teams, you will help execute targeted business plans and optimize product performance. Accountabilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic territory business plan to drive prescription growth and increase market share across a portfolio of ophthalmic products.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and healthcare providers through regular field visits and consultative engagement.
  • Deliver clinically informed sales presentations and influence prescribing behavior using evidence-based selling techniques.
  • Monitor managed care coverage and communicate payer updates effectively to healthcare professionals within the territory.
  • Manage promotional budgets, allocate resources effectively, and ensure optimal return on investment for sales initiatives.
  • Utilize available product samples in compliance with regulatory guidelines to support promotional and educational efforts.
  • Track territory performance, analyze sales data, and adjust strategies to meet or exceed business objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and regional leadership to align execution with broader commercial strategy.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in science, business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience or certification in ophthalmic or pharmaceutical sales may be considered.
    • 3+ years of successful experience in specialty pharmaceutical or medical sales, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
    • Strong preference for experience in the eye health, ophthalmology, or optometry space.
    • Demonstrated ability to build trust-based relationships with healthcare professionals and influence prescribing decisions.
    • Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze territory data and identify growth opportunities.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with a consultative sales approach.
    • Proficiency with CRM tools such as Salesforce and Microsoft Office 365; experience with Power BI is a plus.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a large geographic territory and multiple priorities.
    • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to travel extensively (25–50%), including overnight travel as required.
    • Ability to perform field-based physical requirements, including driving long distances and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
