This is a high-impact advisory role supporting private equity–backed portfolio companies as they strengthen and scale their finance and accounting functions. You will act as a trusted partner to CFOs and operational leaders, helping them build disciplined, scalable controllership processes that align with investment theses and value creation goals. The role spans hands-on accounting support, financial reporting oversight, and operational transformation across complex, fast-moving environments. You will work closely with both finance and non-finance stakeholders, often in the context of acquisitions, integrations, and rapid organizational change. This position requires strong technical accounting expertise combined with a consulting mindset and the ability to operate across multiple client environments. You will also contribute to modernizing finance functions through cloud systems and data-driven tools, including AI-enabled solutions. Accountabilities:

  • Support portfolio companies in building and optimizing efficient monthly close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Perform cash-to-accrual conversions, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules across key accounts such as intercompany, inventory, cash, and prepaids.
  • Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, management reporting packs, and regulatory financial reports.
  • Guide clients in strengthening accounting compliance processes, including tax filings, 1099s, sales tax exemptions, and internal controls development.
  • Support external audit readiness and coordinate audit processes to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Advise on and support implementation of cloud-based ERP and finance systems such as NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or QuickBooks.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate financial operations during acquisitions and portfolio company transformations.
  • Contribute to operational improvement initiatives, including adoption of AI-enabled and data-driven finance solutions.
  • Requirements:

    • 2–5+ years of controllership or accounting advisory experience, ideally within private equity–backed portfolio companies.
    • Strong background in accounting operations, including financial close, reconciliations, reporting, and compliance processes.
    • Experience working with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
    • Exposure to private equity environments, including buy-and-build or acquisition-driven (roll-up) strategies, is a plus.
    • Familiarity with financial planning and analysis processes, including budgeting and forecasting.
    • Experience with data analytics tools such as Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Python, Alteryx, or Snowflake is an advantage.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and process improvement orientation.
    • Ability to work across multiple stakeholders and communicate effectively in fast-paced, client-facing environments.
    • CPA or equivalent certification is preferred, along with a degree in accounting or finance.
