Vice President, Assistant General Counsel, Regulatory and Compliance

This senior legal leadership role is responsible for shaping and overseeing a global, risk-based compliance and ethics program within a highly regulated life sciences environment. The position sits at the intersection of legal strategy, regulatory oversight, and operational execution, ensuring compliance across pharmaceutical, medical device, and consumer health activities worldwide. You will act as a key advisor to executive leadership, embedding compliance into commercial, clinical, and marketing functions while enabling responsible innovation. The role requires balancing strategic governance with hands-on engagement in policy development, training, investigations, and monitoring. You will lead a small compliance team and collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders across global markets. This is a highly visible role with direct influence on enterprise risk management, regulatory readiness, and organizational culture.
Accountabilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a global compliance and ethics program aligned with healthcare and life sciences regulations.
- Oversee regulatory compliance across pharmaceutical and medical device activities, including marketing, sales, medical affairs, and clinical operations.
- Develop and maintain compliance policies, SOPs, training programs, and communications to reinforce ethical conduct across the organization.
- Conduct enterprise risk assessments, monitoring programs, and audits to identify emerging compliance risks and ensure effective mitigation strategies.
- Serve as a key advisor to business and executive leadership on regulatory obligations, product launches, marketing strategies, and global expansion.
- Manage compliance investigations, hotline processes, and corrective action planning in coordination with legal, HR, and business teams.
- Oversee third-party due diligence and international compliance programs, including anti-bribery and anti-corruption controls.
- Monitor evolving regulatory landscapes and enforcement trends to ensure proactive updates to policies, training, and governance frameworks.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 10–15+ years of legal, regulatory, or compliance experience, including leadership roles in highly regulated healthcare or life sciences environments.
- Deep expertise in FDA regulations, healthcare compliance frameworks, and U.S. fraud and abuse laws (e.g., Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act).
- Strong experience advising on pharmaceutical or medical device commercial operations, including marketing, promotional review, and field activities.
- Proven ability to design, implement, and scale enterprise compliance programs, including policies, training, and monitoring systems.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing senior executives in a matrixed global organization.
- Strong investigative, analytical, and risk assessment skills with the ability to translate complex regulations into practical business guidance.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and executive presence, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
