 Job Title: Specialist Process Engineer            

KBR is growing its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for an exciting, high profile offshore development in Abu Dhabi. The ADNOC PMC project role would be based initially in Client or Contractors Office in Abu Dhabi for FEED phase.

Job Summary

The Specialist Process Engineer is responsible for providing advanced technical expertise in process design, optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of plant operations. The role focuses on enhancing efficiency, safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Process Design & Engineering

  • Develop, review, and optimize process designs, simulations, and calculations.
  • Prepare and validate Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and heat & material balances.
  • Support new projects, revamps, and plant modifications.

Operations Support

  • Monitor plant performance and provide technical solutions to operational issues.
  • Troubleshoot process upsets, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to improve plant reliability and uptime.

Process Optimization

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and optimize throughput.
  • Conduct process studies and implement best practices.
  • Drive digitalization and data-driven optimization initiatives where applicable.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to HSE policies and industry regulations.
  • Participate in HAZOP, risk assessments, and safety reviews.
  • Promote process safety and support incident investigations.

Project Management

  • Provide technical input to engineering projects, including FEED and detailed design phases.
  • Review vendor documentation and ensure technical compliance.
  • Support commissioning and startup activities.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and reports.
  • Develop operating procedures and technical standards.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (Master’s preferred for specialist roles).

Experience

  • Typically 8–15+ years of experience in process engineering.
  • Experience in industries such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Refining, Chemicals, or Manufacturing.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus).
  • Expertise in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (API, ASME, ISO).
  • Understanding of control systems and instrumentation is an advantage.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers.
