KBR is growing its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for an exciting, high profile offshore development in Abu Dhabi. The ADNOC PMC project role would be based initially in Client or Contractors Office in Abu Dhabi for the FEED phase.
Job Summary
The Senior Cost Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, and supporting tendering and project planning activities. This role involves evaluating project risks, reviewing drawings and specifications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure competitive and realistic cost projections.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation & Analysis
- Develop detailed cost estimates for projects across all phases (conceptual, FEED, detailed design, and execution).
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates.
- Perform quantity take-offs and unit cost analysis.
- Prepare cost breakdown structures (CBS) and estimate reports.
Tendering & Bidding Support
- Lead and coordinate the preparation of technical and commercial proposals.
- Review tender documents and identify scope requirements.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Participate in bid clarification meetings and negotiations.
Cost Planning & Control
- Establish project budgets and cost baselines.
- Monitor cost trends and provide variance analysis.
- Support project teams in cost optimization and value engineering initiatives.
Risk Management
- Identify and evaluate cost-related risks and uncertainties.
- Develop contingency plans and sensitivity analyses.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and vendors to clarify scope and technical aspects.
- Provide cost advisory support during project execution.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare cost reports, executive summaries, and presentation materials.
- Maintain historical cost data and benchmarking systems.
- Ensure proper documentation and audit trails for all estimates.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or related discipline.
Experience
- 15+ years of experience in cost estimation within construction, oil & gas, or EPC projects.
- Proven experience in large-scale projects and complex tenders.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in cost estimating tools (e.g., Primavera, Candy, CostX, SAP, Excel advanced).
- Proficiency in quantity take-offs and cost modeling.
- Knowledge of contracts, procurement processes, and project lifecycle.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as AACE (CCP), RICS, or PMP.
- Experience in UAE/Middle East market (if role is regional).
- Knowledge of international standards and codes (FIDIC, ISO, etc.).
